Danish Refugee Council, one of the worldโs leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified CB -Protection Officer for our operations in Humera and Mai-Kadra.

The Community-Based Protection (CBP) Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring protection activities in Humera and Mai Cadra, with a focus on community engagement, capacity building, and ensuring the inclusion of vulnerable groups. The CBP Officer is also responsible for engaging and mobilizing existing community structures to strengthen community protection mechanisms. The CBP Officer will work closely with local communities, authorities, and partners to identify protection risks, to develop responsive strategies, to strengthen community-based protection mechanisms and enhance the safety and dignity of affected populations.
Under the technical supervision of the Protection manager, the CBP Protection officer, will implement protection monitoring activities in Humera and Micadra. Specifically, the role will plan and conduct protection monitoring visits in the communities, through data collection and encoding, referral of individuals at risk, information sharing, and timely reporting on protection trends and risks identified. The position will, furthermore, be tasked to identify and provide direct assistance and support to people with specific needs. Additionally, the position is expected to contribute to other protection activities that DRC is implementing in the area.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Facilitate participatory community assessments and protection risk mapping exercises. Facilitate community-based protection initiatives, including awareness-raising sessions, focus group discussions, and participatory assessments. Identify and support the establishment of community protection committees (CPCs) and other community-led protection structures. Strengthen coordination Mechanisms and referral pathways for vulnerable individuals, unaccompanied minors, and persons with disabilities. Train community leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations on protection principles, child protection, GBV prevention, peaceful coexistence, Conflict resolution mechanisms, and PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse). Organize awareness campaigns, legal information sessions, and capacity-building activities for Community Protection committees, other community structures, and local authorities. Support the capacity development of community volunteers and protection committees to identify and respond to protection risks. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of CBP activities and provide inputs for reports and proposals.
Report writing and documentation
Meet with the leaders of Community Protection committees and protection community workers on a regular basis for individual support. Support individual case management and documentation. Support in the development of daily, weekly and monthly reports and ad hoc briefs Ensure proper documentation of all project activities including means of verification, assessments and case studies. Contribute to the development of project proposal and concept notes. Prepare timely and accurate activity reports, case studies, and success stories for internal and donor reporting. Ensure adherence to DRCโs protection standards, ethical guidelines, and accountability mechanismsExperience and technical competencies:
Minimum of 2 yearsโ experience in an entry to mid-level position, with experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee/IDP protection working for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry or local authority. Experience in conducting protection monitoring or protection assessments using online data collection tools such as Kobo and Activity info Good data collection, analysis and reporting skills Experience working with displaced or conflict affected populations. Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team. Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure. Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and ExcelEDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)
University degree/Diploma in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or other relevant field from a recognized institutionLANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)
