Purpose of the Job
The Protection from Violence (PfV) Team Leader (TL) in Kandahar work with PfV Officers and Technical Assistants to ensures the quality of all PfV activities in the field through direct supervision of team. The PfV Team Leader is dedicated to oversight, provide technical support, monitoring the project outputs, capacity building of staffs, and coordination with stakeholders. The PfV Team Leader is responsible to ensure all PfV activities and staff comply with the NRC Code of Conduct, national law, donor requirements, and PfVโs overall objective to protect the rights of displaced communities and seek durable solution.ย
Generic responsibilities
- Management of project staff.
- Implement plan of action for delegated portfolio of Protection from Violence projects (activities, budget and project documentation).ย
- Day to day follow of progress in project implementation.
- Ensure compliance with NRC policies Protection from Violence tools, handbooks and guidelines.
- Ensure that projects target PPs most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
- Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents.
- Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
- Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders.
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
Specific responsibilities
- Daily management and supervision of Protection from Violence to ensure the quality delivery of Protection from Violence activities, including assessment, coordination and capacity building.
- In collaboration with their supervisor, provide technical support, supervision and guidance to the Protection from Violence Team and ensure that staff adhere to best-practices and humanitarian principles and Safe and Inclusive Programming considerations through capacity-building and on-the job coaching.
- Identify technical gaps in the activities and identify/implement solutions to address the gaps.
- Support the Protection from Violence Coordinator by contributing to and providing field-related inputs for Protection from Violence proposals.
- Ensure the implementation of protection from violence activities under his/her supervision, including appropriate and timely spending plans for activities to achieve programme goals, grants reporting contributions, target tracking, procurement, use and distribution of supplies and resources.
- Support protection case management staff through the provision of technical support and guidance, including approval of case plans and sign-off on cash and in-kind assistance. Ensure that staff implement and respect best-practice and international standards in protection case management.
- Oversee awareness raising activities and support the development of messaging.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships, including service as referral focal points, with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers, and maintain up-to-date service map and agreed referral protocols with partnering agencies.
Generic professional competencies:ย
- Bachelorโs degree from social sciences or related field.
- At least 3 yearsโ working experience in project management and supervision of staff.
- Experience with protection case management.
- Experience in conducting community outreach.
- Good knowledge of data protection standards.
- Understanding rights and protection issues of target populations, experience working with returnee, IDP populations and protracted displaced communities residing in ISETs is an advantage.
- Best familiarization and knowledge of computer programs specifically with Ms. Officeย
- Fluency in English and local languages (Both written and verbal).
- Experience from working within technical protection expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
