1. Role and responsibilities

The Protection from Violence Coordinator will oversee the implementation of PfV activities in SA Office Odessa, ensuring alignment with international standards and organizational policies. Protection from Violence (PfV) encompasses tasks such as protection monitoring at community and household level, provision of specialised responses through Individual Protection Assistance (IPA) through cash or in-kind support, UDOC and supporting cases through referrals, in accordance with NRC Country Officeโ€™s strategic and policy framework. The role also involves supporting the development and rollout of Civilian Self-Protection initiatives, encompassing community engagement, capacity building, and awareness sessions. Regular communication with field teams will be maintained to monitor project progress, address challenges, and ensure high-quality service delivery. The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities

1. Ensure compliance with NRC (global and national) policies and procedures, handbooks and
guidelines and/or propose new initiatives to bridge gaps and implement these.
2. Contribute in the develops systems and SOPs and makes sure they are implemented
accordingly.
3. Identify, analyse and evaluate key processes and gaps in the team activities and make
recommendations for improvement.
4. Develop strong working relationships with local authorities, civil society, NGOs and other key
stakeholders, including representing NRC in meetings as appropriate.
5. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
6. Support in the roll-out of a needs assessment in target areas in South Ukraine, including
border regions and other potentially insecure environments.
7. Maintain up-to-date service mapping and referral pathways for individuals identified in need
of assistance.
8. Work with PM to ensure capacity building of all staff in line with work & development plans.
9. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management, including timely reporting
on programmatic and contextual issues.
10. Ensure proper data protection of sensitive information at field level, development, and
maintenance of databases, filing of documents in line with data protection protocols.

Specific responsibilities

Supervision of the PfV team, including weekly operations and performance management as required. Support the implementation of NRCโ€™s Protection Policy and global protection standards within Country Office through working with programme management. Develop strong working relationships at the Country Office level, Area South level and field level with external protection actors and referral partners. Represent NRC at the field level in protection coordination meetings. Support the development of multisectoral coordination mechanisms at local level in line with PfV strategy and national legal frameworks Support in project management, including budgeting, to ensure targets and expenditure are appropriately planned and implemented in line with NRC policies and internal workplans. Develop the detail implementation plan, field workplan, updating of the procurement trackers, develop and update the spending plan. Lead on stakeholder meetings and community participation and/or consultation processes with IDPs, returnees, and host communities Develop protection tools and guidance and continually update protection action plans to ensure integrated and safe programming. Produce regular context analysis updates on key protection trends and contribute to programme development discussions. Share regular updates and project progress report and contribute to the development of donor reports. Build partnerships with local organizations, fostering their capacity to support community-driven protection initiatives. Facilitate regular team meetings and performance reviews to enhance staff motivation and performance.
