Danish Refugee Council, one of the worldโ€™s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Protection Assistant โ€“ GBV CM for our operations in Hudet Filed Office.


Overall purpose of the role

Under the supervision of the Protection Officer and ERPM, the Protection Assistant supports the delivery of protection case management (CM) services in line with DRC SOPs and international standards. The Assistant conducts identification and assessment of individuals at risk, develops case action plans with guidance, facilitates referrals, conducts follow-up, and ensures safe and confidential documentation of cases. The position contributes to providing timely, quality, and survivor-centered protection assistance, including Cash for Protection/Individual Protection Assistance (IPA).

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Conduct identification and safe referral of individuals with protection concerns through field visits, community structures, and service providers. Carry out protection assessments under the supervision of the Protection Officer. Support development and updating of case action plans with close guidance from the supervisor. Implement agreed activities and conduct regular follow-up calls/visits to monitor progress. Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) to individuals in distress when required. Support case closure following completion of interventions and supervisor approval. Refer cases to internal and external services upon client consent, following DRC and inter-agency referral protocols. Complete referral forms, update referral tracking sheets, and ensure feedback from receiving agencies. Maintain functional working relationships with community focal points and service providers. Complete all Case Management forms accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain confidential, well-organized case files (hard and soft copies) aligned with DRC data protection standards. Support the Protection Officer in ensuring quality and completeness of documentation. Report complex or high-risk cases immediately to the supervisor Identify individuals who may qualify for Cash for Protection/IPA and flag them to the Protection Officer. Support the completion of IPA request forms in line with case action plans. Conduct post-distribution follow-up and outcome monitoring to assess the effectiveness of assistance.

Experience and technical competencies:

Experience working with vulnerable groups, IDPs, or in community-based programs preferred. Basic understanding of protection principles and humanitarian standards. Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Basic computer literacy (MS Office, data entry). Experience in case management or GBV/PSS support is an added advantage.

EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)

High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certificate in human services or related field is preferred.

LANGUAGE: (indicate Fluency level)

Proficient of English language Proficiency in Afaan Oromo and Somali.
