5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The UN Women Regional Office for the Arab States (ROAS) implements its Strategic Note 2022 -2025 in close consultation with strategic partners and other stakeholders in the region. A key strategic priority for ROAS is deepening and expanding its engagement in the Gulf Cooperation Council sub-region, including through exercise of UN Womenโ€™s coordination and normative mandates. ROAS has enjoyed a strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain since 2016. The Supreme Council for Women is the primary operational partner of UN Women in Bahrain and provides generous budgetary support to the strategic partnership with UN Women. The SCW is the national womenโ€™s machinery mandated to develop and coordinate the implementation of the National Plan for the Advancement of Women.ย

In the course of this partnership ROAS has administered two rounds of the Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa Global Award for Womenโ€™s Empowerment, in close consultation with the Supreme Council for Women (2018 and 2022).ย  The Global Award provides prizes in the amount of USD 100,000 for winners across four categories (public sector, private sector, civil society and individual champions) who demonstrate impact for womenโ€™s empowerment on the application forms and according to the selection criteria. More information on the Global Award and previous winners can be found here:ย https://www.womenglobalaward.org/en

The application period for the third round of the Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa Global Award for Womenโ€™s Empowerment was launched during a side-event at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in UN Headquarters on 11 March. The application period will run for 12 months and will include communications and outreach to publicize the Award and its aims.
