Result of ServiceThese results will strengthen UNCTAD’s role as a leading institution on sustainable investment, enhance strategic partnerships, and contribute to the mobilization of external resources in support of the programme objectives. Work LocationHome-Based Expected durationASAP for six months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the project manager, the consultant will support the activities of the UNCTAD Sustainable Institutional Investment (SII) programme, in DIAE. Specifically, the candidate will provide support to the following responsibilities: • Preparation for major international events, including the UNCTAD XVI and COP30, including coordination with key stakeholders in China and mobilization of partnerships. • Conceptualization of the Future Investment Conference (FIC) 2026, a flagship international event organized by DIAE/UNCTAD annually in Xiamen, China, in the context of the China International Fair on Investment and Trade (CIFIT). This includes conceptual development of the programme, coordination with the Chinese host, and communication with key stakeholders. • Provide substantive support for planning of capacity-building activities related to sustainable investment in China and other Asian countries. Tasks include conducting research on needs of key clients, providing inputs for a work plan for capacity-building activities in Asia and China, and fostering partnerships with key stakeholders. • Provide inputs to other tasks of the SII Programme, including contributions to research outputs and publications on sustainable investment issues, desk research, data analysis, and preparation of related communication materials. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced University Degree, Master, in international relations, international economics, international finance or related area, is required. At least five years of work experience, including a minimum of two years at the international level, in sustainable investment or project financing is required. Work experience in sustainability/ESG integration by companies or investors, as well as project management in related areas, is desirable. Work experience in preparing events for international meetings, including UN conferences, is desirable. Work experience in research and publications on sustainable investment, carbon markets, and sustainability-related issues, is desirable.
