UNDP re-opened its office in Doha, the State of Qatar since August 2021. This was initiated pursuant to the agreement between the Government of the State of Qatar and UNDP concerning the establishment of a UNDP office in Doha in Qatar signed on 15 March, 2021.

UNDP in Qatar serves as an interlocutor between the State of Qatar represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Fund for Development as global development partners, and key national strategic partners in Qatar.
It offers seamless access to substantive technical policy advisory services and connectivity to Qatar with UNDPโs Global Policy Network architecture.
Currently, major objectives of UNDPโs office in Qatar include (1) Enhancing the impact of Qatar funded development programme and strengthen the strategic and multifaceted partnerships between Qatar and UNDP on the future of development, facilitate co-creation of new frontiers of innovative and transformative development solutions, (2) Offering strategic demand driven technical services, building long term capacity, organize policy dialogues and advocacy events in multilateral platforms while (3) forging multistakeholder partnerships with key entities including Qatar Fund for Development.
The internship is intended to facilitate the following knowledge/learning:ย
โข ย ย ย ย UNDPโs policy and programme priorities in the Arab States region, especially in relation to economic transformation, governance and stabilization, climate and energy, gender and digital transformation.

โข ย ย ย ย Development data visualizationย
โข ย ย ย ย Knowledge of development challenges the Arab States region
ย Data Analysis and Reporting:
โข ย ย ย ย Support the development of Qatar -specific partner mappings and trend analysis.
โข ย ย ย ย Model data for analysis and create visual representations of data.
โข ย ย ย ย Conduct analysis of key developments in discussions with partners.
โข ย ย ย ย Support to the office in Doha in updating and following up on partnership engagement.
Knowledge Management and Documentation:
โข ย ย ย ย Contribute to the creation of presentations, infographics, and reports to strengthen UNDP's external position and engagement with partners.
โข ย ย ย ย Contribute to the development of guidance and partnership notes that summarize key aspects of UNDPโs work aligned with partner priorities.
โข ย ย ย ย Support the Office in maintaining their inputs into UNDPโs Client Relationship Management system (UNITY) by coordinating with different UNDP country offices/programmes that engage with the Government of Qatar .
Resource Mobilization and Partnership Management:
โข ย ย ย ย Identify projects and programs funded by partners in Qatar
โข ย ย ย ย Support internal capacity building by developing donor profiles, guidance notes, and other online toolkits for resource mobilization and strategic engagement analysis.
โข ย ย ย ย Support outreach and engagement with Qatari based partners on various initiatives, logistics and other administrative arrangements.ย

ย Education:
Applicants to UNDP internships must at the time of application meet one of the following academic requirements:
โข ย ย ย ย Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);ย
โข ย ย ย ย Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent);ย
โข ย ย ย ย Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
โข ย ย ย ย Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
In addition to meeting the requirement above under eligibility, the preferred fields of study for this internship includes:

โข ย ย ย ย Previous experience in advocacy, strategic communications, or partnership building in the development context, especially within the UN framework, is an asset

Conditions of internship:
Internships within the UN system are subject to following conditions, which the candidates should familiarise themselves with prior to applying:
โข ย ย ย ย Starting from January 2020 interns will receive stipends according to UN rules and regulations.
โข ย ย ย ย Any further costs associated with the internship must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her arrangements for travel, accommodation and other costs.
โข ย ย ย ย UNDP accepts no responsibility for the medical and life insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship. The Intern must provide proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan;
โข ย ย ย ย UNDP does not provide assistance with travel and/or housing and the Intern will be responsible for obtaining the necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
โข ย ย ย ย The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment within the UN System, but to complement an internโs studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.ย
