ย The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย
ย In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
ย a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor. d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.
ย Background Information
Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advise to governments and migrants.
IOM Hungaryโs Programme Support Unit (PSU) provides cross-cutting support to programme teams across the Country Office, including, but not limited to project development, internal and external reporting, monitoring and evaluation, information management and internal and external communications.ย
Supervision
- Under the direct supervision of the Programme Support Coordinator andย overall supervision of the Head of Office, the Programme Support Intern will support the work of IOM Hungaryโs Programme Support Unit. Tasks and responsibilities
- Provide assiatnace to the work of the Programme Support Unit of IOM Hungary.
- Support the production and curation of suitable content for various internal communications platforms and channels, including the Country Officeโs intranet, newsletters, e-mails, and digital displays.ย
- Assist the monitoring of the internal communications effortsโ effectiveness, as well as the collection of feedback.ย
- Support the production of information sheets, presentations; and other public information materials.
- Assist the Programme Support Coordinator and Programme Support Specialist in the design and development of new projects/programmes, as well as in drafting of internal and donor reports.
- Assist Programme teams with project implementation, in particular the provision of administrational and logistical support.
- Provide support with the Country Officeโs information management activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
- Applicants to ย IOM Internships must, at the time of the application, a) be enrolled in the final year of a first degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent); or b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.ย ย Experience
- Some experience in an office environment is preferred;
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools is an advantage
- Some experience in internal external communications, as well as other functions of PSU (ie. Project development and fundraising, information management, M&E, reporting) is an advantage.ย Skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills;
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
- High level of computer literacy;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;
- Familiarity with design and/or editing tools (ie. Canva) is an advantage. Languages
- Fluency (oral and written) in English.
- Fluency (oral and writtenI in Hungarian is a distinct advantage.
- Working knowledge ofย Ukrainian and/or Russian would be considered as advantageous.
