This position is to meet the increasing needs of supporting and promoting evidence generation and SBC-related work, as well as advancing NI throughout Myanmar CO in terms of programme, systems and people.
The purposes of this consultancy are as follows:
โข To contribute to making nutrition-related evidence generation work that support including assessments, analysis and surveys for better programming, operational efficiency, cost effectiveness and donor advocacy.
โข To advance SBC related activities across the WFP Activities and to enhance effectiveness of WFPโs assistance, especially CBT assistance, by enhancing knowledge and capacity of WFP field office and partners as well as systematizing SBC-related activities.
โข To disseminate the concept of Nutrition Integration and HIV/TB(NI)โ across CO and FOs.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical support in any form of analysis, assessment or surveys related to nutrition. This includes joint efforts of interagency, the Nutrition Cluster and the Food Security Cluster.
Review and analyse nutrition-related activities for evidence generation such as rice fortification, SBC activities, etc. to inform future programming, the Country Strategic Plan and donor advocacy.
Take a lead to conduct a pilot and develop an SBC strategy and tools in coordination with relevant Activities, units and FOs.
Provide support in planning, developing, and implementing SBC-related activities for relevant Activities and units, and disseminate good practices to FOs.
Ensure uniform and consistent SBC approaches and messages referencing Food-Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDGs) and monitoring in collaboration and coordination with relevant Activities and units, as well as external stakeholders.
Support advancing NI agenda by following the NI workplan in collaboration and coordination with relevant Activities and units. Cascade relevant information and good practices to FOs.
Liaise with internal and external counterparts and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.
Prepare timely reports to enable effective decision-making on programming and planning.
Additional tasks:
Provide technical support in delivering nutrition activities for including transfer value calculation and update for nutrition cash assistance.
Writing research proposals and concept notes, develop and design any research related projects, guidance notes and advocacy briefs related to public health and nutrition activities.
Support activity managers in knowledge management and documentations of nutrition activities such as fortified rice, nutrition in emergency, wasting prevention, stunting prevention, CVA for nutrition top up and management of moderate acute malnutrition, HIV/TB, SBC activities, etc.
Support other tasks, as required, which include developing guidance notes, advocacy briefs, baseline, etc., and designing training materials and tools.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Completed masterโs degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in one or more of the following disciplines: Nutrition, Public Health, Health Education and Behavioural Science, Social Sciences, or other field relevant to international development assistance, or university degree in any of these fields with relevant experience.
Experience:
At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in implementing SBC activities and interventions that target malnutrition and poor dietary diversity, and/or other relevant areas such as nutrition, public health, or food security.
Experience in managing and implementing WFP programmes is an asset.
Knowledge & Skills:
Working experience in and knowledge of food and nutrition security situation in Myanmar.
Experience in delivering health, food and nutrition programmes to local communities including women of reproductive age and young children.
Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Ability to analyse and consolidate quantitative and qualitative information from different sources to deliver tangible outcomes.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse environment and to forge and manage partnerships.
Experience and ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment or nutrition platforms such as SUN; experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset.
Ability to establish priorities, plan, coordinate and organise own work plan.
Ability to work with flexibility and on a tight deadline schedule.
Experience in working on Food-Based Dietary Guideline (FBDG) and knowledge of FBDG is an asset.
Languages:
Fluency (level C) in English and Burmese is required.
