Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Trade and Gender Programme within the Office of the Director in the Division on International Trade and Commodities. Responsibilitiesโข Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects related to market concentration policy, digital platforms, digitalization, with systematic integration of trade-and-gender considerations., etc.; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues related to market concentration and regulatory challenges on gender in trade and proposes corrective actions; liaises with partners and tracks follow-up actions. โข Performs consulting assignments with national counterparts and stakeholders including , facilitating workshops on trade and gender issues in the digital economy, proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, and assisting in developing actionable strategies to address challenges arising from digital market concentration and platform dominance. with particular focus on womenโs economic empowerment and gender-responsive approaches. Researches, analyzes and presents information and on data digital transformation, online platforms, and their implications for market structure, consumer protection, and trade in services, incorporating a trade-and-gender lens, drawing from multiple sources and dataset. โข Assists in policy development, including analysis of emerging digital consumer protection policies and regulatory framework through a womenโs economic empowerment and gender-responsive lens s preparation of evaluations and contribution to analytical studies on digital trade and services markets. โข Undertakes survey initiatives digital markets and cross-border data flows on trade and gender linkages; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions. โข Prepares various written outputs such as background papers, analytical briefs, case studies, and inputs to UNCTAD reports and publications on Trade and Gender. โข Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc. to include proposing agenda topics identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. โข Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc. โข Coordinates activities related to budget and funding budget, funding, and donor reporting for projects addressing competition policy in the context of digitalization. โข Performs other duties as required. Work ExperienceA minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required. Experience delivering capacity-building/technical assistance, preferably for developing countries and with donor-funded projects, is desirable. Experience engaging with government counterparts, regional organizations, or international partners on issues related to trade or market regulation, including coordination of meetings, workshops, or joint initiatives is desirable.
