ย Organizational Context and Scope
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. Under the overall supervision of the IBG Programme Officer, and the direct supervision of the IBG National Project Officer, the successful candidate will be specifically responsible for assisting with and contributing to the day-to-day administration, coordination and implementation of activities of the Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) unit while also supporting other programmatic units.
The successful candidate will be primarily tasked with supporting the implementation of IOM activities within the Japanese funded project on enhancing marine border management, as well as other ongoing IBG projects.
The ongoing IBG projects collectively aim to enhance safe cross-border mobility and trade in Southern Africa by improving Border Management Information Systems in Malawi and implementing a Border Pass System between Malawi and Mozambique, ensuring efficient migration regulation and strengthened bilateral relations.

1.ย ย ย ย Perform administrative, logistical, and networking activities to assist in the implementation and coordination of all IOM IBG activities on the primary project, as well as support other related projects.
2.ย ย ย ย Assist in ensuring the smooth implementation of all IOM IBG activities by supporting the preparation and adaption of workplans, in coordination with the National Programme Officer.
3.ย ย ย ย Assist in tracking, coordinating and reporting project activities and expenditure in line with reporting requirements in line with IOM internal reporting guidelines,
4.ย ย ย ย Assist the coordination for hosting of workshops, trainings, seminars and conferences in line with the project workplan,
5.ย ย ย ย Assist in drafting of programmatic presentations, talking points, briefing papers, speeches, social media articles and press briefing notes as well as promoting project and donor visibility,ย
6.ย ย ย ย Undertake duty travel, as required to ensure the smooth implementation of projects within the relevant portfolio.
7.ย ย ย ย Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education
- University degree or its equivalent in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Operational and field experience in migration management issues, including government and donor liaison.
- Demonstrated knowledge of government processes, including engagement with technical partners.
- Demonstrated good level of expertise in the thematic areas relevant to the project โ specifically IBG, labor migration, migration policy.
