Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Team Manager (AVRR Operations), the incumbent will have the following duties and responsibilities in order to facilitate and support the voluntary return of migrants.
Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates. For all IOM vacancies, applications from qualified and eligible first-tier candidates are considered before those of qualified and eligible second-tier candidates in the selection process. For the purpose of this vacancy, internal candidates are considered first-tier candidates.
1. Identify potential returnees, provide information and counsel about IOMโs AVRR services keeping up to date about national and international developments concerning the target groups as relevant to return, AVRR and IOM.
2. Build and maintain contacts and good working relations with target stakeholders and organizations, work together with migrants.
3. Assist migrants wishing to return voluntarily to their country of origin, in coordination with relevant IOM units and IOM stakeholders, and in observance of IOMโs guidelines and procedures.
4. Facilitate the AVRR departure process by informing migrants on the practical aspects of the IOM-assisted departure from the Netherlands; assisting potential returnees in finding solutions for possible obstacles to their return.
5. Maintain proper and accurate migrant files, by registering relevant data concerning the progress of work, in accordance with IOM procedures
6. Account and report on financial responsibility in line with IOMโs applicable regulations.
7. Register relevant data and submit regular reports to the Team Leader Operations on the results, developments, and possible bottle necks.
8. Undertake duty travel related to AVRR project implementation as required.
9. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Education
- University degree in Sociology, Political Sciences, Anthropology or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in administrative support or similar roles; or
- Completed High School diploma (MBO) from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience; preferably in similar roles.Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.ย Experience
- Working experience in an international setting, familiarity with the work of an international organizations.
- Knowledge of asylum and migration issues and the parties involved.ย
- Solid understanding of implementing guidelines.
- Experience with knowledge of outreach work and counselling.
- Demonstrable experience with the target groups relevant to the IOM.
