ContextThe Gamified and Simulation-Based Safety Trainings for Children in Ukraine initiative engages skilled community volunteers to design a digital learning experience that helps children aged 10โ16 understand how to act safely during emergencies โ such as air raids, shelling, or encountering unexploded ordnance โ through calm, interactive storytelling. To ensure these learning scenarios are both educational and psychologically safe, the Trainer on Scenario Design & Gamified Learning will prepare volunteers to translate real-life emergency risks into engaging, non-traumatic storylines and choice-based interactions. The trainer will introduce practical techniques for using gamification to reinforce correct behaviors, strengthen decision-making skills, and maintain childrenโs emotional comfort during gameplay. This assignment supports the projectโs core mission: to make life-saving education accessible, localized, and empowering for children living in high-stress environments.
Task DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Tech4R coordination team, the Trainer will: Design and deliver interactive training sessions on scenario writing, gamified learning principles, and child-centered storytelling. Teach volunteers to convert emergency preparedness topics into short, choice-based game scenarios that emphasize calm decision-making and safe behavior. Explain the fundamentals of gamification in educational design, including reward logic, branching narratives, and balanced feedback mechanisms. Work with content and education volunteers to ensure scripts are simple, inclusive, and culturally relevant to children in Ukraine. Provide examples and templates for storyboarding, dialogue design, and scenario flow suitable for low-code tools. Collaborate with the Psychological Safety Trainer to ensure content avoids distressing or graphic elements. Review volunteersโ scenario drafts and provide constructive feedback to improve clarity, pacing, and learning value. Contribute to the documentation of best practices in gamified learning for replication across other Tech4R initiatives.
