Living conditions and remarksThe Kananga Area Office is accessible from Kinshasa by a 2hrs UNHAS flight. The City of Kananga has all basic amenities related to housing, electricity, water, supper market and shops. The deterioration of roads complicates travel and humanitarian interventions, particularly in rural areas. The overall security situation is relatively calm but unpredictable, with a medium residual risk (3). Some cases of criminality common in cities (theft, pick pocketing) have been reported. Traditional and land disputes remain a source of instability in several territories, particularly in Eastern and Central Kasai. Local authorities and armed forces encourage citizen cooperation to prevent any escalation. Compliance with UN security measures is strongly recommended.
