Job Summary:

A core member of the Crisis Response Team and is one of the first staff members on the ground in humanitarian emergencies. Responsible for developing and leading technical programming, and play a critical role in ensuring the organizationโ€™s emergency programming is responsive to the needs of disaster-affected populations. Ensure humanitarian activities are evidence-based and adhere to technical standards for the field. As circumstances demand, engage at all stages of an emergency, from the initial acute phase through to transition and recovery, and will support technical programs from assessment and conception through close-out and evaluation.

The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing FHI 360โ€™s portfolio of IYCF activities in eastern and southern Ukraine, as well as providing strategic and technical leadership for the nutrition unit. The Nutrition Coordinator will manage nutrition programs from assessment and conception through close-out and evaluation and they will supervise the nutrition staff in the department. The NutritionCoordinator will work closely with the MHPSS Coordinator and Health Coordinator, as well as coordinate with relevant operations departments.

Based in Dnipro, this duty station is designated as extreme risk and poses a heightened risk or direct threat to personal safety. However, FHI 360 has implemented mitigation measures and policies to ensure staff safety in coordination with FHI 360 Global Security. For international staff based in Ukraine, FHI 360 provides a competitive salary, danger pay, premium pay allowance, accommodation, relocation, and regular R&R rotations which includes a roundtrip ticket to designated relief point, and a 750 USD lump sum payment.

Accountabilities:

  • Deploy and lead the organizationโ€™s humanitarian efforts in a specialized area of expertise i.e., health and nutrition; water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) in emergencies, from conception through implementation and onward to the transition phase, ensuring programming exceeds established quality criteria and technical standards.

  • Conduct sector assessments, provide technical guidance on appropriate emergency activities, and devise sector-specific response strategies for the acute and transitional phases of emergency operations in crisis-affected communities.

  • Assess municipal infrastructure and service-provider capabilities, identify support needs, service gaps, and opportunities for partnership.

  • Develop partnerships and ensure effective coordination with local service providers and international organizations operating in the sector and attend regional cluster meetings.

  • Work with operations staff and partners to ensure commodities are procured, handled, and managed properly, in accordance with the organizationโ€™s pharmaceutical supply-chain management protocols.

  • Manage emergency program budgets, as assigned, including routine expense forecasting and pipeline analysis.
