- Provide technical inputs to support the development and implement IOM Sri Lanka and Maldives internal and external communications strategies, in line with the Organizationโs guidelines and donor requirements, that promote an accurate narrative on migration and other issues central to IOM with the media, general public, donors, the UN and other key partners.
- Collaborate with other departments ย to develop and disseminate ย appropriate Communication for Development (C4D) approaches, including awareness-raising campaigns.
- Assist to review, and edit external communications content, including articles, stories, blogs, videos and social media contentย
- Maintain IOM Sri Lanka and Maldivesโs online presence, including its social media accounts and website, with an aim of increasing the impact of IOM Somaliaยดs digital outreach.
- Contribute to developing and strengthening links with international and local media to share information and help raise the visibility of IOM operations in Sri Lanka and Maldives.
- Facilitate cooperation and coordination on communications with relevant actors, including United Nations (UN) agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)ย and relevant stakeholders, through participation in relevant inter-agency groups and working groups to encourage information flow and community engagement activities across agencies.
- Assist the mission to disseminate information on the COs key interventions with development partners, key Government entities, and within the COs, coordinate with Senior Management in the development of annual visibility items for COs.ย

- Masterโs degree in Journalism, Communications, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution or,
- University degree in above fields with two years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Demonstrated work experience in media and communication in similar capacity.
- Experience in digital communications and social media, corporate writing and editing, media liaisoning, and managing donor visibility.
- Previous experience in the field of migration is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in working in the UN or other International Organizations is desirable. Skills
- Excellent skills in drafting and editing content including speeches, talking points, and captions in English;
- High level of professionalism and ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines in a complex and fast changing environment;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
- Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity;
- Skills in graphic design, photography, and videography an advantage. Languages
