OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The position aims at strengthening the health system response to GBV in Sudan, through implementation of specific GBV activities, and integration of GBV into health services and other relevant programs.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Conduct a country need assessment of the health sector response to GBV to verify needs and gaps and draft a workplan based on the identified priorities work with national counterparts and relevant international stakeholders, and provide technical support to strengthen the health system response to GBV at all level, including policies, national guidelines and tools.
- Work with the health cluster, to make sure GBV activities are appropriately reflected in the Health Cluster plans, and relevant documentation (Humanitarian Needs Overview and Humanitarian Response Plan) .
- Support linkages and coordination between the health cluster (including Sexual and Reproductive Health and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support working groups as relevant), the GBV sub-working group, and Clinical Management of Rape task force.
- Identify training needs for respective target audiences and participate in development of comprehensive plans for capacity building.
- Contribute to the preparation and adaptation of training materials tailored to the specific needs and guidance on GBV in Sudan.
- Arrange for capacity building activities for health personnel in health facilities, and community health workers and conduct analysis on the WHO training workshops' impact on GBV topics for different health care providers.
- Identify the priority of GBV related issues among the affected population to ensure that these are properly addressed through awareness raising and other community-based initiatives.
- Participate in meetings (including field meetings) with the national counterparts and UN stakeholders for planning, conducting and reprogramming of collaborative actions.
- Prepare reports, recommendations and lessons learnt based on these meetings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: First level university degree in one of the following fields: public health, women or gender and development studies, social sciences or related field.
Desirable: Specialized training in women health, epidemiology or social sciences.
Experience
Essential: At least two (2) years of relevant professional work experience in non-communicable diseases focusing on the area of violence against women/gender-based violence.
Skills
- Proven profound knowledge of GBV issues at the Country Level- Interpersonal skills e.g. tacks, patience and curtesy

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 51,553 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
