The Position:

The incumbent will participate  in Gender  Assessment Training : The consultancy should participate in  an online training  on the UNFPA gender  assessment framework  and methodology.The training is expected to take 9 hours of onlineengagement withina week,inadditionto 3-5 hours of preparatorywork before and between sessions . Plan Gender Assessment and Adapt Global Tools to ocal Context. Adapt the UNFPA gender assessment framework  and the methodology provided during the  training to the country setting,with support of global consultants. The Gender-Transformative Approach Roadmap under the GPECM should be examined for cross-programme  learning,scalability, and integration in the EmpowerED programme Conduct Data Collection and Analysis. Data collection methods may include, but are not limited to, desk reviews, interviews and  focus group discussions. Data  collection for the  gender assessment may be combined with data collection for the EmpowerED baseline assessment, for which coordination with the baseline assessment team may be required. Participate in two technical support sessions with Global Gender Assessment Consultants.  The consultancy should participate in two  sessions (5 hours in total} in July and  August  2025, to receive individualized guidance and technical support for the planning of the gender assessment, data collection and analysis of key themes. Prepare a Gender Assessment Report for EmpowerED in Ghana, using the UNFPA gender assessment framework

You will report to:

The EmpowerED focal point at UNFPA country office and the Gender Specialist at UNFPA country office. They will hold regular virtual exchanges. The consultancy will work in consultation with the Country Office M&E Specialist, Global Gender Assessment  Consultants,and the Gender,  Human Rights and Inclusion  Branch at Technical Division.

Job Purpose:

EmpowerED is UNFPA's global initiative to expand universal access to comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) for adolescents and youth. This initiative seeks to enhance their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and ensure they live a life free from violence.  The project will improve access to in-school and out-of-school gender-transformative CSE for adolescents and youth in 10 countries while also strengthening the linkages to services for gender-based violence (GBV) and SRHR.

You would be responsible for:

Improving the availability of quality and evidence-based gender-transformative CSE content for adolescents and youth, particularly adolescent girls. Increasing access and uptake of gender-transformative CSE programmes to contribute to GBV prevention and increase the agency and decision-making power of adolescents and youth, especially adolescent girls. Strengthening the capacity of key partners to invest in and create an enabling environment for quality and inclusive delivery of CSE programming.

Qualifications and Experience: 

Masters or equivalent in international relations, gender studies, sexual and reproductive health, international development or other field directly related to the substantive area of work A minimum of 5 years of experience working in the area of gender equality in international  development. Ability to connect gender equality with wider SRH issues including GBV and CSE. Exposure to UNFPA work at the country level and experience in UNFPA programming is an asset. Experience in writing for UN development programmes. Excellent analytical and writing skills.
 

Languages: 

Fluency in English is mandatory.
