The UK Trade Partnerships (UKTP) Programme, funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), seeks to increase trade from selected developing countries to the UK and EU, leveraging Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) and the UKโs Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS). In Zimbabwe, the UKTP Programme supports SMEs in the horticulture and natural ingredients sectors to increase export readiness, access international markets, and comply with UK/ EU standards. In FY 2025โ26, the Programme will work with SMEs, provide tailored capacity building, facilitate participation in European trade shows, and enhance institutional partnerships. The role of the consultant is to coordinate the effective implementation of the UKTP Programme in Zimbabwe in FY 2025โ26, support SME development, stakeholder engagement, trade fair preparation, and monitor the programme outcomes. Description of Duties/Responsibilities The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the UKTP Programme Manager and overall guidance of the Chief of Section. Specific duties include: 1. Programme Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement โข Liaise with ZimTrade, relevant government ministries and sector associations to align programme objectives and ensure stakeholder buy-in. โข Map and engage key actors in the horticulture and ingredients value chains. โข Provide regular updates and intelligence on national developments affecting export sectors. 2. SME Selection and Baseline Assessment โข Coordinate the identification and onboarding of 5โ10 new SMEs, ensuring a balanced cohort based on selection criteria. โข Distribute and compile baseline surveys to assess capacity, export readiness, and development needs. 3. Capacity Building Coordination โข Organize and facilitate workshops and coaching which may include: o Quality assurance and certification o UK/EU labelling and packaging o Branding, marketing, digital promotion o Logistics and supply chain optimization โข Support delivery of one-on-one mentoring and peer-to-peer learning. 4. Trade Fair and Market Access Support โข Support beneficiary participation in European trade events. โข Guide SMEs through booth preparation, product readiness, and matchmaking activities. โข Coordinate with ZimTrade to ensure joint branding and representation where possible. โข Assist planning and organization of potential inbound UK buyersโ missions. 5. Monitoring, Reporting, and Data Collection โข Lead M&E activities including tracking KPIs: exports, certifications, partnerships. โข Conduct post-activity reporting, collect feedback from SMEs, and flag improvement areas. โข Ensure visibility and branding guidelines are adhered to in all activities. โข Liaise with SMEs for annual outcome survey data collection 6. Institutional Support โข Work closely with ZimTrade to strengthen support systems for SMEs in the sector. โข Identify capacity gaps and coordinate technical inputs from ITC where necessary. Qualifications/special skillsUndergraduate degree (BA/BSC or other) Graduate degree in agriculture, business management, marketing, economics, development or related field. Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
