Result of ServiceReview the Bills, follow up on the discussions at various levels, coordinate and incorporate comments and identify areas for improvement. Produce an assessment/inception report on the review of the Bills with recommendations to improve them within fifteen days as of the effective date of the consultancy, referencing both national and international laws. Develop a detailed strategy/work plan covering the completion and validation of the Bills and programs for engaging the Legislature. Provide requisite support to OWECC-L in furtherance of achieving its mandate. Work LocationMonrovia Expected duration02.1.26 -28.02.26 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the OWECC-L, the consultant will be stationed and work daily in the OWECC-L, on diverse issues, including follow-ups finalizing the Bills and collaborating with various actors to ensure their passage by the Legislature, and when approved by the President, publication in Handbills. Qualifications/special skillsAt least a degree in law, international law or human rights. Experience in international human rights and humanitarian law would be a strong asset. A minimum of seven years of professional experience as a practicing lawyer (including teaching law or as a judge), legal consultant or advisor in human rights or anti-corruption matters A minimum of two years of professional experience in legislative/legal drafting is an asset. Ability to work under pressure with several tasks and various deadlines. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy, fluency in spoken and written English is required. Additional InformationThe Consultant will be engaged by OWECC-L, which will provide day-to-day supervision of the assignment.
