Result of ServiceThe National Consultant is expected to undertake the following activities: Review all poems submitted using technical expertise Prepare comprehensive list of recommended poems and individual creators including winning poems and creators honored during the 2024 international Human Rights Day celebration in Monrovia Provide technical and advisory support such as editing, proofreading, and arrangement to the final compilation of poems for printing and publication Work LocationMonrovia Expected duration1.10.25 - 31.10.25 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Country Representative of the OHCHR Liberia Office, and with support from OHCHR technical staff, the National Consultant will have access to all poems submitted and received during the 2024 human rights poetry competition to carefully review the submissions and select top poems in the different categories to appear in the compendium. The National Consultant is expected to compile the selected poems and names of creators in their categories and submit listing to the OHCHR as recommendation for consideration as poems to be included along with the selected winning poems in the collection entitled: \"Poetry for Human Rights - A Collection from Liberia\". Qualifications/special skillsAt least a masterโ€™s degree in education, Literature, gender, research, human rights or other related social science. Minimum 7 years of professional experience in working with Literature/Poetry as teacher, practitioner or a researcher. Minimum 3 years of experience in analyzing poems, Literature/Poetry research, and reporting etc; Experience working with a Literature Department is an added advantage Knowledge of the Liberia human rights landscape and human rights principles is an asset. Ability to actively generate creative, practical approaches and solutions to overcome challenging situations Excellent writing, presentation/public speaking skills Proven strong analytical abilities and understanding of Poetry and Ability to read, write, and understand different types of poems Ability to work under pressure with several tasks and various deadlines and Ability to actively generate creative, practical approaches and solutions to overcome challenging situations LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
