Its joint mandate combines a focus on expanding trade opportunities with the aim of fostering sustainable development. This position is located within Green and Inclusive Value Chains (GIVC) section, Trade and Environment Programme, that provides trade intelligence and technical assistance to strengthen the climate competitiveness of MSMEs through a portfolio of environment-related tools and approaches. Objective ITC will be actively participating in COP30 in Brazil from 10-21 November 2025. ITC aims to ensure the roleof trade and of small businesses in developing countries are part of the discussions, and that decisionstaken reflect this, further developing the progress made in COP27, COP28 and COP29.ITC is seeking a national consultant to provide support in planning and executing ITCโ€™s participation in COP30. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of Programme Officer of GIVC, the consultant will provide substantive coordination and logistical support to ensure ITCโ€™s participation in COP30 is a success. The consultant will have the following duties and responsibilities: Stakeholder engagement: โ€ข Conduct a mapping of key local government agencies, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations that align with ITC's priorities, including trade, sustainability, and climate action, identifying potential partners, collaborators, and influencers within Brazil's political, economic, and environmental landscape. โ€ข Engage with ITCโ€™s existing partners in Brazil to strengthen connections and foster new, sustainable relationships with local stakeholders to create a network that will support ITCโ€™s initiatives and maximize impact, especially during COP30. โ€ข Facilitate communication and coordination between ITC Geneva staff and local stakeholders, acting as the key local point of contact and ensuring that ITC team is well-informed on local dynamics, providing insights and guidance on engaging with stakeholders. โ€ข Provide up-to-date information on Brazilโ€™s trade policies, climate strategies, and COP30 priorities, highlighting opportunities for ITCโ€™s engagement and recommendations for follow-up actions. โ€ข Contribute to the report on ITCโ€™s participation in COP30 Logistical coordination: โ€ข Coordinate logistics for the ITC team, including transportation, accommodation, and pavilion setup (if applicable), working with local vendors and service providers. โ€ข Act as a liaison between the host team and ITC team to ensure good coordination of events chedules, coverage, and logistics. โ€ข Identify and secure suitable venues for side events, meetings, and networking sessions in coordination with the ITC team. โ€ข Assist in organizing ITC events by coordinating speakers, moderators, participants, and providing on-site support, including assisting guests with information on ITCโ€™s work on environment and trade. โ€ข Keep the ITC team informed about relevant events, meetings, and opportunities around COP30 to enhance visibility and engagement. โ€ข Provide recommendations for gastronomy options for business dinners to enhance networking opportunities. โ€ข Proactively identify and address unforeseen challenges during the event to ensure smooth execution and provide timely assistance to the ITC team. โ€ข Participate in regular coordination meetings (online and onsite) with the ITC team. Copyright The Consultant has to ensure that s/he has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform his/her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Qualifications/special skillsPostgraduate degree (MA/MSc/MBA, PHD or other) in business administration, international relations, environmental science, public policy, communications, sustainable trade, economics or related field. Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. โ€ข Experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly with government agencies, private sector, and civil society organizations. โ€ข Experience in organizing and coordinating events, including logistics, speaker coordination, and on-site management. โ€ข Familiarity with international trade, sustainability, and climate change issues, especially in the context of global events like COP. โ€ข Experience working in cross-cultural environments, with a strong ability to navigate diverse stakeholders and communication channels. โ€ข Ability to handle crisis situations, manage multiple tasks under pressure, and ensure smooth event execution.
