About the Country Program in Zambia

Action Against Hunger has been operational in Zambia since 2021 implementing both development and humanitarian programmes through a multi-sectoral strategy where Nutrition, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods, WASH and Protection, Gender and psychosocial support are integrated to have a meaningful impact on people\u2019s resilience.

Purpose

Provide Monitoring and evaluation related functions for the Strengthening Livelihood and Resilience of Smallholder Farmers to climate change in Southern Province, Zambia-(SLARF) and other Action Against Huner Zambia Country office projects

Job Summary

Design the MEAL framework for project monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

\u00b7ย Conduct baseline, mid-term, and end-line assessments to track food security, nutrition, and climate resilience outcomes.

\u00b7ย Ensure data collection includes gender-sensitive and nutrition-sensitive indicators.

\u00b7ย Train field teams in participatory monitoring and impact assessment tools.

\u00b7ย Prepare donor reports and facilitate learning forums.

\u00b7ย Support the MEAL Manager in preparing timely and accurate reports on program activities.

\u00b7ย Contribute to the development of case studies and success stories.

\u00b7ย Collaborate with program teams to gather information for donor reports.

\u00b7ย Support the MEAL Manager in synthesizing data and findings into comprehensive reports.

\u00b7ย Assist in the design and development of monitoring tools to ensure effective data collection

\u00b7ย Assist in the collection, entry, and analysis of program data.

\u00b7ย Participate in field visits to ensure the quality of data and information gathered

\u00b7ย Conduct data quality assessments and provide feedback to field teams for improvem

\u00b7ย Support in the analysis of data to generate insights for program improvement.

\u00b7ย Engage in learning opportunities to enhance skills and understanding of MEAL practices.

\u00b7ย Contribute to the development of project proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements

\u00b7ย Assist in the preparation of logical frameworks and results frameworks for proposed projects.

\u00b7ย Organize and maintain a comprehensive filing system for MEAL documents.

\u00b7ย ย Support in archiving and documenting project achievements and lessons learned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience

\u00b7ย Degree in M&E, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, or Statistics.

\u00b7ย Minimum 5 years in project evaluation with experience in nutrition and food security projects.

\u00b7ย Membership with Zambia Monitoring and Evaluation Association (ZaMEA)

Required Skills & Competencies

\u00b7ย ย Excellent experience in report writing, donor rules and regulations, validation procedures, process coordination.

\u00b7ย ย Excellent writing and analytical skills

\u00b7ย ย Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, under pressure and under tight deadlines

\u00b7ย ย Capacity building and facilitation skills

\u00b7ย ย Bi-lingual with excellent knowledge of English and any of the local language

\u00b7ย  Able to build effective working relationships at all levels.

\u00b7ย  Initiative and ability to work independently and propose solutions to diverse problems.

\u00b7ย ย Experience working in a team environment and building a team.

\u00b7ย ย Active listener with good interpersonal skills
