Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position. ย Context ย Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) ,the direct supervision of the Migration Health Officer ย (CMHO) the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities in relation to the Migration Health Assessments under the programme โThe implementation of assisted voluntary returns including reintegration measures and operation of Open Center in the Prefecture of Attica for applicants of voluntary return (AVRR/OCAVRR)โ.
1.ย ย ย ย Perform daily nursing activities in the Migration Health Assessments to fulfil the technical requirements of the Guidelines of MHD Medical Movements for Assisted Voluntary Return Programme to different countries in the areas of:
ย ย ย a)ย ย ย ย Medical examinations,
ย ย ย ย ย i.ย ย ย ย Such as checking vital signs, weight, height, visual acuity;ย
ย ย ย ย ย ii.ย ย ย Blood, urine or sputum collection as required;
ย ย ย b)ย ย ย Imaging;
ย ย ย c)ย ย ย Laboratory testing;
ย ย ย d)ย ย ย ย Vaccinations;
ย ย ย e)ย ย ย ย TB management;
ย ย ย f)ย ย ย ย Treatment and referrals;
ย ย ย g)ย ย ย ย Pre-departure procedures and medical movements;
ย ย ย h)ย ย ย ย Documentation, certification and information transmission; and,
ย ย ย ย ย i)ย Other technical areas as may be required.
2.ย ย ย ย Provide information and detailed explanations to the migrants and/or refugees in relation to:
ย ย ย a)ย The migration health assessment process; and,
ย ย ย b)ย Treatments and referrals.
3.ย ย ย ย Ensure proper identification and follow-up by:
ย ย ย a)ย Comprehensive history taking;
ย ย ย b)ย Accurate and thorough Biodata collection;
ย ย ย c)ย Ensuring ID verification for each step of the health assessment process; and,
ย ย ย d)ย Keeping a register of applicants who undergo health investigations and testing.
4.ย ย ย ย Follow and implement the Health Assessment Programmeโs check lists and SOPโs and maintain standard universal precautions within migration health assessment clinic.
5.ย ย ย ย Verify samples of sputum, blood or others are properly transported to the laboratory or previously designated location.
6.ย ย ย ย Maintain and monitor the MHA pharmacy, stock, medical kits and emergency kits within the MHAC and for medical escorts if applicable.
7.ย ย ย ย Provide pre and/or post counselling to migrants or refugees on TB or HIV education, prevention and management as appropriate.
8.ย ย ย ย Prepare administrative reports and program updates as necessary.
9.ย ย ย ย Support the planning and execution of mobile missions if applicable.
10.ย ย ย ย Assist with pre-departure documents, briefings and preparations as necessary.
11.ย ย ย ย Perform medical escort duties when required to ensure migrants receive continued care throughout all phases of migration (before departure, during the journey and at the final destination).
12.ย ย ย ย Maintain collaborative relationships with various partners to facilitate the follow up and relevant information sharing. Partners include internal IOM departments, other health providers, panel physicians, embassies other UN agencies or NGOโs and others as applicable.
13.ย ย ย ย Collect statistical information and share with the Migration Health Officer as per preset and agreed upon format.
14.ย ย ย ย Conduct on site visits at the areas where the beneficiaries of AVRR are being accommodated.
15.ย ย ย ย Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education
- Bachelorโs degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience;ย
- Secondary School Diploma with at least five years of relevant clinical experience.
- A valid license to practice nursing in Greece.
ย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience- Excellent technical skills, including in phlebotomy;
- Training or working experience in the areas of Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage;
- Knowledge of and experience in clinical nursing;
- Excellent bedside manner;
- Knowledge of principles of preventive care and disease control;
- Knowledge of and experience in implementation of patient safety and infection prevention and control.
ย Skills- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting;
- Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access). Languages
- Fluency in Englishย and Greekย (written and oral) is required.ย IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
