Join the CERN Events Operations team as a local events coordinator!

CERN has an opening for an Early Career (Origin) Graduate in the Visitor and Events Operations (VI) section in the Science Gateway Operations (SG) group in the International Relations (IR) sector.

As a local events coordinator you will organize events for the general public on the CERN sites and specifically in the CERN Science Gateway, in the local area as well as online. Aimed at promoting STEM subjects and raising awareness on the Laboratory's activities, these events are targeted to a curious audience of all ages and all levels of knowledge.

CERN Science Gateway (https://sciencegateway.cern) is an emblematic education and outreach facility that opened in October 2023. It enables people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in the discoveries, the science and the technologies of CERN.

You will be responsible for planning, organising, promoting and delivering events and activities such as:

Activities for local schools (e.g.: Be a scientist, Women and girls in science and technology, school events) at CERN Science Gateway campus and in the school classrooms;Youth activities (e.g. Coding Science Days, Girls in ICT Day);Events for the general public at CERN, in the local region and online (e.g. local science fairs and events);

As a Local Events Coordinator, you will:

Coordinate all aspects of local events organization: logistics, infrastructure, budget, contracts, procurement, ticketing, flow control, security, promotion, volunteers management, satisfaction surveys, data privacy;Develop and federate our community of CERN volunteers (recruitment, team spirit, training, schedules, etc.);Contribute to CERN's communication strategy by drafting content in French and English, on various communication tools (website, social media, internal communication etc.);Coordinate the promotion and maintenance of the Passport to the Big Bang exhibition.

You will also take part in other activities in collaboration with the Events Operations team:

Help with the organisation of private and public events at the CERN Science Gateway campus and on other CERN sites;Help with the organization of large-scale events on the CERN sites.

Who we are looking for

Essential skills and experience:

Experience in organizing events of various sizes;Excellent organization and planning skills;Ability and autonomy to quickly solve problems;Good interpersonal skills, excellent ability to work in teams, adaptability, creativity and curiosity;Mastery of IT tools for organizing and promoting events;Any proven experience in the following fields would be an asset:Facilitating science events;Website development and maintenance (Wordpress, Drupal 10);Knowledge of the Greater Geneva area educational and cultural environments;Creating virtual events;Fluent in both English and French.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Events Management, Public Relations (or a related field) by the application deadline;Your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor's or master's degree;You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before;Applicants without a university degree are not eligible;Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
