Job Overview:
The Livelihoods and Food Security Project Assistant will help implement and monitor NRCโs livelihoods and food security programmes in Galmudug State. The Livelihoods & Food Security Assistant will be working directly with the communities and beneficiaries in target locations in Galmudug. Under the leadership of the project team leader and Field Office coordinator, the Project Assistant will undertake beneficiary mobilization, project setup and delivery of project activities according to NRC project cycle management.ย The project assist will be line managed by the LFS Team leader. The Livelihoods & Food Security Project Assistant (LFS PA) will be involved in both administrative and program support activities of the LFS Core Competence and broader NRC program as summarised below.
Generic responsibilities:

Administrative Prepareย payment requests (PRs) in Aggresso where applicable and liaise with logistics to support stock requisition of materials from stores to support project activities using the correct proceduresย Liaise with your supervisors to support in preparation of contract documents, verification certificates for incentive workers, partners and other service providers timely to facilitate proper and prompt payment to the partners Work with incentive workers to ensure that correct data capture procedures are adhered to during PDM and other monitoring activities Administer working advances, field-based resource personโs payments and participantsโ activity payments in compliance with NRC policy.ย Program support Participate beneficiary selection eligible for livelihoods and food security programmes, based on guidelines and procedures given by the LFS staff in (Galmudug) and Livelihoods and Food Security Team Leader/Project Manager (SC area Office).ย Immediately report any challenges or implementation delays to the LFS team leader/ LFS Officer, Field Office Coordinator, and Livelihoods and Food Security Manager (SC Area Office).ย Maintain clear and up to date records of livelihood programme beneficiaries and activities (beneficiary numbers, locations, contact details, activity progress) โ including by regularly visiting beneficiariesโ homes or businesses.ย Lead the WFP relief project implementation in the beneficiary identification, registration, and line manages the casual staff.ย Participate in baseline data collection, field monitoring and conducting interviews with beneficiaries and key informants with enumerators and scope registrar. Participate in project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation including rapid assessments, and other data collection in order to inform and improve programming Liaise and work with fellow project assistants including field assistants to implement and document LFS activities in South and Central Somalia with special focus on the projects assigned, Especially the WFP relief project in Abudwak, and Hobyo.ย Organize nutrition, food security and WASH awareness sessions for beneficiaries and host communities.ย Support and work with incentive workers, implementing partners, suppliers & beneficiaries to; build capacity, ensure that correct documentation procedures are adhered to during field activities including M&E activities. In consultation with the project officer(s) and project team leader/coordinator, represent NRC in community meetings, coordination meetings and other information sharing fora that is available. Communicate timely and adequately of any concerns that threats the smooth operation of program and advise of possible course of actions to take.ย Timely reporting and support in preparation of project reports/updates for the ongoing project activities. Experience in the humanitarian/recovery contextย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Minimum 1 year of previous Experience in food security and livelihoods projects with NGOs/UN in south central Somalia. Previous working experience in complex and volatile contexts Documented results related to the positionโs responsibilities English is the working language so high level of fluency is required.ยContext/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:ย
Bachelorโs degree in social sciences, Development Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field. Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in Cash Transfer programming (CTP), food security and livelihoods programs in Somalia. Experience in a Humanitarian field context a strong added advantage. Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills Very good organizational and administrative skills Attention to detail. Good cultural awareness and sensitivity. Strong team working and support role skills. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines under pressure with minimum supervision Good task orientation and ability to follow actions through to completion.Behavioural competencies:
