Under the leadership of the LFS Team Leader and guidance of the officer, the Livelihoods and Food Security Assistant (refer to as a Core Competency โ CC) will ensure the support and implementation of the assigned LFS projects in Mozambique. The following is a brief description of the role.
- Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Implement delegated LFS project portfolio according to plan of action.
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
- Ensure proper filing of documents.
- Actively participate in capacity building trainings, workshops and seminars organized.
- Assist in developing work plans for the technical aspects LFS activities.
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
- Establishes excellent relations with the assisted communities and local stakeholders through regular field visits and frequent contacts; represents NRC on the field in line with the code of conduct.ย
Specific responsibilitiesย
- Conduct assessments, and participate when required in focus group discussions, community meetings, and other community mobilization activities.
- Conduct distribution of LFS relatedย in-puts, including seeds and tools,ย NFIs, cash or vouchers.ย
- Under the mandate of the supervisor, conduct door to door visits to potential beneficiary household sites (or phone interviews if not possible) and correctly fill project related technical forms and questionnaires.
- Support the LFS officer on the preparation of BoQs, scope of works and any other documentation necessary for activities.
- Ensure correct completion of works according to the plans approved by LFS Specialist
- Communicate to LFS Team Leader and respond whenever possible to any LFS requests and complaints regarding project activities. Ensure proper feedback on beneficiary complaints.
- Perform any other task relevant to the position as requested by LFS Team Leader
- Regularly report project progress, difficulties, lessons learned to LFS Specialist, through the Team Leader
- Facilitate data for the proper flow of information required by the LFS team.
- Facilitate coordination of activities with logistics, finance, and M&E teams.
- Always ensure safe and inclusive programing work with a gender and protection lens and ensure that environmental and nutritional sensitivity are incorporated into all LFS plans and activities.ย

- Experience (minimum 2 years) from working as assistant or similar in a humanitarian/recovery context during identification of beneficiaries, distributions, community mobilization.

Context/Specific skills, knowledge and experience:ย
Experience working with humanitarian organizations, private sector, donors, or international agencies. Experience working with vulnerable groups and ability to demonstrate conflict sensitivity. Experience working in at least one of the following sectors: WASH, Shelter, Education, Protection, Economic Recovery, Food Security and Livelihoods is a plus. Good oral and written communication skills. Some knowledge and skills in LFS related analysis, CBI, microenterprise business startups, savings and financing, and agricultural sector-based programs such as farming, agroecology, agribusiness, Proficiency in Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, Power Point) and collaborative platforms (SharePoint, Google drive, Zoom, Microsoft teams or similar).2.
