ย
The post is located in the Solutions Design and Delivery Section (SDDS) of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department.
ย
The mandate of the ICT Department is to support the Organizationโs strategic goals by ensuring the transformation of its information and communication technology systems and structures, focusing on service excellence, quality, efficiency, and integration.
ย
The Department is responsible for the IT infrastructure and operations management, Enterprise architecture governance, Business solutions design and delivery, and the ICT portfolio and program management.
ย
The Section has centralized ownership of multiple software applications, manages a diverse portfolio of ICT projects, and is responsible for the continuous improvement of related IT platforms and systems. In addition, the Section is responsible for the technical activities that facilitate the objectives behind the IP Portal.

b.ย ย ย Purpose Statement
ย
The main role of the incumbent is to contribute to the technical implementation of SDD projects/solutions and to provide guidance to other software developers. The incumbent will also convert business requirements and needs into future architecture and design, guide the development process, and communicate on high-level structures of integrated solutions.

c.ย ย ย Reporting Lines

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Head of the Solutions Design and Delivery Section.

d.ย ย ย Work Relations
ย
The incumbent liaises mostly with internal SDDS colleagues to provide technical guidance. At times, he/she will interact with internal or external business and technical stakeholders from across the Organization.

2.ย ย ย ย Duties and Responsibilities
ย
The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:
ย
a.ย Ensure Technical implementation of approved solutions across the software lifecycle, generate relevant documentation and ensure timely project delivery.
ย
b.ย Coordinate and validate the work of SDD development teams, Offering technical guidance and mentorship as necessary.
ย
c.ย Provide liaison between projects and users, where appropriate, during the development, integration, installation, testing and acceptance phases of a solution or system.
ย
d.ย Create detailed component specifications and translate them into detailed designs for implementation using selected products.
ย
e.ย Work in close collaboration with business representatives to present potential options or considerations that require a business decision.
ย
f.ย ย Produce and deliver users technical trainings and develop user documentation.
ย
g.ย Maintain technical expertise by keeping up to date with technologies related to computer systems.
ย
h.ย Perform other related duties as required.

3.ย ย ย ย Requirements
ย
Education (Essential)
First-level university degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.
ย
Education (Desirable)
Software development and cloud certifications.
ย
Experience (Essential)
At least six years of relevant professional experience in web software development and relational databases.
ย
Practical experience with cloud technologies.
ย
Experience (Desirable)
Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.
ย
Experience with Agile methodologies and SCRUM.
ย
Experience with AWS.
ย
Language (Essential)
Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.
ย
Language (Desirable)
Good knowledge of at least one other UN official language.

Job Related Competencies (Essential)
Very good knowledge of software development for web-based applications using Java, Angular and server-side NodeJS.

Good knowledge of Relational Databases, in particular PostgreSQL and Oracle.

Knowledge and experience in integrating diverse application architecture platforms.
