The mission of the CTCN is to enhance the development and transfer of climate technologies for developing countries as they seek to achieve their commitments under the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. The CTCN assists developing country Parties at their request, building or strengthening their capacity to prepare and implement climate technology projects that span the technology transfer continuum. The CTCN supports public and private sector action on mitigation and adaptation, enhancing low-carbon and climate-resilient development in a manner consistent with the capabilities and priorities of recipient countries. Among its key services, CTCN provides tailored technology solutions, capacity building and knowledge sharing. In support of its core functions, the CTCN is engaged in communications and outreach efforts in order to โ€˜generate awareness onโ€™ and โ€˜demonstrate the value ofโ€™ CTCNโ€™s activities and services; share climate technology information and strengthen stakeholder engagement. Leveraging the expertise of its network, CTCN also supports the implementation of specific programmes such as: (i) The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) programme which has a special focus on Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and aims to support innovation in climate change adaptation by encouraging locally led solutions and testing and scaling up innovative adaptation practices, tools, and technologies. (ii) The European Commission's (EC) Climate Security programme which focuses on countries at risk of climate-induced conflicts for which CTCN aims to facilitate the development and implementation of innovative, community-based climate technologies that enhance resilience and reduce conflict risks The CTCN secretariat is looking for a consultant to manage communications and the exchange of best practices and lessons learned from its activities under AFCIA and EC Climate Security Programme, support CTCNโ€™s overall knowledge sharing activities (workshops, publications and online knowledge portal) and assist in delivering communication activities for the implementation of CTCNโ€™s communications strategy together with the CTCN Governance and Communications Specialist. The consultant will be supervised by the Director of the CTCN or person designated by the Director. This position is located within CTCN, Climate Change Division, Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) Secretariat based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: A - Support AFCIA and EC Climate Security for communications and knowledge management: 1. Support the development and updating of the AFCIA dashboards. 2. Coordinate the delivery and dissemination of the AFCIA fact sheets. 3. Coordinate the delivery and dissemination of blogs and videos on CTCN technical assistance delivered under the AFCIA and EC Climate Security programmes. 4. Draft content for CTCN website and stories on CTCNโ€™s AFCIA and EC Climate Security activities. 5. Provide input on AFCIA and EC Climate Security for the CTCN newsletter. 6. Contribute to the delivery of AFCIA and EC Climate Security reports and other knowledge products. 7. Coordinate the delivery of CTCNโ€™s AFCIA and EC Climate Security related workshops, side-events or sessions, exhibitionsโ€ฆ B โ€“ Support CTCN knowledge management and communications: โ€ข Act as primary CTCN focal point for UNEPโ€™s Climate Change communications team. โ€ข Support the delivery and dissemination of CTCN reports and other knowledge products, โ€ข Draft content for CTCN website and stories, notably on CTCNโ€™s gender and climate change mitigation activities and provide inputs on the same for CTCN newsletter and social media. โ€ข Draft content of press releases for CTCN activities, as needed. โ€ข In collaboration with CTCN Governance and Communications Specialist: o Support the gathering information, conducting interviews, and composing draft content for use in CTCN case studies, reports, presentations and promotional materials. o Support the delivery of CTCN communications materials (videos, photography). o Coordinate with CTCN team and support planning and organizing of CTCN events and support communications, creating webpages, creating messaging and visual assets (Regional NDE forums, training, side-events, exibhitionsโ€ฆ). o Assist in communications-related to collaboration with host institutions and new/key partners. โ€“ including communications and media coverage C - Performs other tasks as may be requested by the Director of the CTCN. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent) in communications, international and/or public relations or related field. A minimum of 5 years practical experience in the fields of communications, outreach in social media/web content, articles, outreach materials, event planning and media relations for climate change and environmental issues. Experience in global communications and working for a UN or multilateral organization Understanding and experience with UNFCCC activities is an asset.
