Your responsibilities

As a Junior FPGA Developer, you will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY). Within this department, the Linacs, Injector Synchrotrons (LIS) team esponsible for accelerating cavities in the linear accelerators (Linacs) and synchrotron accelerators located on the Meyrin site of CERN and of the high-power amplifiers and controls that are required for producing their electromagnetic fields.

Within the framework of replacing Radio Frequency tube-based drivers with solid-state amplifiers of the Proton Synchrotron (PS), the fast control circuits also need renovation through FPGA-based VME cards. A prototype hardware for this system has recently been developed.

In this position, you will:

Participate in designing the final version of the interlock board;Oversee FPGA programming; Conduct corresponding testing to elevate amplifier controls to a new level of flexibility and versatility;FPGA programming for a fast Radio Frequency shut-off protection system and the new gap relay control system for the 10MHz system of the Proton Synchroton.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Experience in FPGA programming:Knowledge of VHDL;Knowledge of C/C++.Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Computer science, Electrical Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
