      IMPORTANT:

      You can only apply for an internship if you:

      2. Have not already undertaken an internship at the ILO.
      3. Are enrolled in a Masterโ€™s or a Doctorate Programme, or have completed such a programme in the year preceding the application.
      4. Have a working (both oral and written) knowledge of English. This is mandatory.

        Department(s)

        The ILO Department of Statistics (STATISTICS) is responsible for compiling and making available, in a timely manner, statistics on a wide range of topics related to the world of work. It supports the development of international statistical standards in the field of labour through the International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) and promotes coordination in statistical activities at the global level through participation in expert groups, technical meetings and other international statistical fora. As a priority, it provides ILO constituents with technical assistance to improve their ability to produce official national statistics on labour related topics through censuses, surveys and administrative records, in accordance with agreed international statistical standards and classifications.

        Within the Department, the internship will be placed with the Rights, Migration and Skills Statistics unit (RMSSU). The Unit conducts statistical work on priority topics highlighted by the Office as requiring special attention through an interdisciplinary approach. It contributes to the ILOs mandate to advance social justice and decent work for all through statistical work in the areas of industrial relations, occupational safety and health, international labour migration, and others.

        Learning areas

        As an intern in the Rights, Migration and Skills Statistics unit (RMSSU) within the Statistics Department (STATISTICS), you will be exposed to a whole range of areas such as international statistical standards, including standards on International Labour Migration Statistics, global data compilation and development and maintenance of an international statistical database, the main sources of labour migration statistics including household surveys, population censuses and administrative data sources, as well as general and specific national statistical practices, etc.
