As the development partner for export success, ITC contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by generating sustainable incomes and livelihoods, particularly for vulnerable households, through connecting enterprises to global markets. ITC enables small business export success in developing and transition countries by providing, with partners, inclusive and sustainable trade development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions, and policymakers. ITC Work on EUDR - LATAM region The Deforestation-Free Trade Gateway (DFTG) project supports coffee exporters and EU operators in complying with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). It enables transparent exchange of supply chain data, strengthens traceability, and promotes continued trade between Latin America and the European Union. The 24-month initiative is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Enterprise and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in collaboration with regional partners. The consultant will provide technical and coordination support to the DFTG project team during the first quarter of 2026, focusing on the implementation and testing of new DFTG functionalities and preparation of capacity-building activities planned for the year. ITC Work on Sustainable Exports โ El Salvador In El Salvador, ITC is implementing the โIlamatepecโ Sustainable Exportsโ project, funded by the European Union under the Action Support to El Salvador's Social Plan: Private Sector Development. The project aims to generate income and employment through exports to the European Union and Central America by strengthening the export supply capacity and sustainability of Salvadorian ICT and orange tourism service providers (companies, entrepreneurs, and communities). The project seeks to: โข Improve the business management and service quality of ICT and tourism providers to better meet international buyer expectations. โข Equip companies and communities with tools to monitor social and environmental sustainability. โข Develop a local talent pool, including young people, women, and returned migrants, to provide services to digital and tourism businesses. โข Strengthen the national sales force to promote El Salvadorโs offerings in technology,digital, and orange tourism sectors. โข Facilitate access to new business opportunities with local, regional, and European partners. The project also includes a strong focus on the coffee sector, in particular supporting compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR),through the development of the EUDR Handbook for Salvadoran Coffee, the registration of producers and exporters in the Deforestation Free Trade Gateway (DFTG), and capacity building with the Institute of Salvadoran Coffee (ISC) and other Business Support Organizations(BSOs) to support producers, cooperatives, and exporters. Both initiatives form part of ITCโs broader effort to strengthen sustainable value chains, improve producer resilience, and facilitate market access in the face of evolving buyer and regulatory requirements. The consultant will contribute to these objectives by supporting stakeholder consultations, reporting, coaching programmes, and sector-specific capacity-building activities that respond to the sustainability challenges and market opportunities in both cocoa and coffee value chains, as well as ICT and tourism sectors. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager at ITC Headquarters and will: โข Design and adaptation of training materials (presentations, exercises, guides) for regional workshops and online sessions under DFTG. โข Development of FAQs, user manuals or short video tutorials to facilitate DFTG adoption; draft newsletter/social media content for awareness. โข Planning, coordination, and facilitation of the sixth session of the EUDR e-learning course โข Testing of new DFTG functionalities (invitation, data export, partner interfaces) conducted with selected Latin American exporters and EU operators; consolidated feedback log and recommendations produced. โข Customization of training modules for MSMEs from ICT and Tourism sectors in El Salvador (based on ITC templates). โข Design of marketing content (flyers, event banners, social media kit) + Logistics note for the ILAMATEPEC rollout event โข Coordination with coaches, national consultant, and ITC HQ; review of VSS strategies; compilation of impact survey data. โข Comprehensive summary of outcomes and proposed follow-up actions for the ILAMATEPEC coaching component. โข Planning, coordination, and facilitation of the seventh session of the EUDR โข e-learning course โข Organization of training sessions with ISC and local experts across El Salvador; mentoring of BSOs. โข Preparation of a concept note outlining the DFTG deployment process in El Salvador as a model for replication. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree International Relations, or a related field. A bachelor's degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted. Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. Work experience: โข Minimum 3 years of work experience in international trade and analytical/research tasks โข Previous work experience in trade development issues is highly desirable. Skills: โข Ability to work with minimum supervision, efficiency, competence and integrity and in harmony with people from different backgrounds โข Technical knowledge: Familiarity with sustainability digital tools such as the ITC Standards Map Data Entry Tool. โข Organizational and reporting skills: Strong ability to organize events, produce timely meeting minutes, status reports, and synthesize stakeholder inputs into actionable work plans.
