Result of ServiceThe consultantโ€™s work will enhance the effectiveness and visibility of the Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs), ensuring their successful implementation and utilization. The establishment of a structured database will facilitate knowledge management and the systematic documentation of technology needs across LDCs. Through effective stakeholder engagement, research coordination, and knowledge dissemination, the consultant will contribute to informed decision-making, improved policy frameworks, and the development of innovative projects aligned with national development priorities. Work LocationGebze, Tรผrkiye Expected duration9 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer, and overall supervision of the Managing Director, the incumbent is required to perform the following functions: โ€ข Support the coordination of ongoing and new Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs), ensuring effective planning and timely progress and completion. โ€ข Oversee and support research coordination by guiding the international and national consultants conducting the research, ensuring methodological consistency and alignment with project objectives. โ€ข Review and provide feedback on draft chapters, ensuring quality, coherence, and relevance of findings to inform national priority sectors in need of technological solutions. โ€ข Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including consultations, workshops, and discussions with national and international partners, to ensure inclusive and well-informed decision-making. โ€ข Contribute to the validation, finalization, and launch of TNAs in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. โ€ข Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a database capturing key findings from TNAs. โ€ข Ensure that TNA results and related technology needs of LDCs are systematically documented and made accessible internally and publicly. โ€ข Facilitate internal knowledge-sharing processes to enhance the use of TNA insights for strategic planning and decision-making. โ€ข Promote the dissemination and utilization of TNA findings for policy development and project formulation. โ€ข Support the development of innovative project concepts based on TNA findings. โ€ข Provide substantive inputs to reports, policy briefs, and analytical documents. โ€ข Assist in the coordination of programme activities and liaise with relevant stakeholders, including UN agencies, government representatives, and development partners. โ€ข Monitor global and regional trends in technology development, providing insights and strategic recommendations for national innovation and development priorities. โ€ข Provide technical and administrative support for project activities, tracking progress, monitoring deliverables, and ensuring timely submission of reports and recommendations. โ€ข Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and consultations related to TNAs and other programme activities. โ€ข Participate in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support. โ€ข Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications/special skills- An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in international relations, political sciences, public policy, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. - A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in research coordination, economic analysis, policy development, programme management, or related fields is required. - Experience in science, technology, and innovation in the context of international development is desirable. - Experience in knowledge management, database development, or the dissemination of analytical findings is desirable. - Experience in managing stakeholder engagement and facilitating collaboration among diverse international partners is desirable. - Experience working with UN entities or similar international organizations is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
