Work LocationTashkent Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe desired starting date is 1 August 2025, and the internship is for 6 months. The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (part time). The Programme for Central Asia outlines the proposed scope and focus of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) work in Central Asia from 2022 to 2025. The programme is carried out by UNODC, under the lead of the Regional Office for Central Asia (ROCA) based in Tashkent, making effective use of the expertise and infrastructure available in UNODC Programme Offices across Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajiki-stan, and Turkmenistan) and in Headquarters in Vienna. The Programme also aligned itself with the global UNODC Strategy 2021-2025, SDGs and the national priorities. The Programme outlines the framework for delivering a coherent package of technical assistance and aims to: support the Member States in achieving priority outcomes in countering drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism in the sub-region; and increase the responsive-ness, efficiency and effectiveness of UNODCโs support to the sub-region. Under the overall supervision of the UNODC ROCA respective Officer the selected intern will provide support in implementation of activities within the framework UNODC Programme for Central Asia 2022-2025: - Provide support to the organization of meetings, events and conferences, side events to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners. - General support in processing, drafting and finalizing training materials - Provide assistance in social media campaigns. - Support to develop communication materials based on good practices, impact example and achievements. - Assist in data collection of science, technology and innovation practices. - Conduct web research and provide analysis on science, technology and innovation and sustainable development issues. - Adding data to the databases - Provide support in operations, including finance, procurement, HR, general administration - Assist with archiving: prepare procurement materials for archiving, register the archived files, up-date the register of archived file Qualifications/special skillsPursuing graduate degree in law, international relations, management, business administration, finance, social sciences or other relevant academic disciplines. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent). - Be computer literate in standard software applications. - Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and - Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English and Russian is required for the internship. Knowledge of Uzbek is desirable. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
