Work LocationThe Hague Expected duration3-6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe International Court of Justice is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. It is composed of 15 judges, elected by the General Assembly and the Security Council. The Court has a twofold role: first, to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States; and, second, to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by duly authorized United Nations organs and specialized agencies. The Court is the only principal organ of the United Nations not serviced by the Secretariat. The Court has its own administration, the Registry, which provides judicial support to the Court and acts as a permanent administrative organ. The Registry is headed by a Registrar, elected by the Court. Under the supervision of the Information Systems Officer (Cybersecurity), the incumbent will gain hands-on experience by contributing to a variety of cybersecurity tasks and related activities, including but not limited to: 1) assisting in the creation of documents, templates and presentations in collaboration with the technical team; 2) assisting in the development and review of cybersecurity awareness materials, and providing basic technical support to users when required; 3) supporting the delivery of cybersecurity services in areas such as operations, architecture, risk management and identity and access management; 4) participating in the review of documents, training sessions, testing activities and resilience exercises; 5) ensuring that all cybersecurity-related requests are properly logged, tracked, resolved in a timely manner, documented and closed in the ticketing system; 6) assisting the Cybersecurity Operations team in reviewing and tracking identified vulnerabilities; 7) supporting the use and maintenance of cybersecurity applications/tools; 8) performing other tasks as required. Qualifications/special skillsThe incumbent must have completed at least a Bachelorโs degree or equivalent, preferably in information technology or another related field. Recent completion of or enrolment in a Masterโs programme in the same field will be considered an advantage. No professional work experience is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the official and working languages of the International Court of Justice. A good command of either English or French and a sound working knowledge of the other language is required. Knowledge of Dutch is desirable; knowledge of other official languages of the United Nations would be an asset. Additional InformationNot available.
