Position Description:
FHI 360 is seeking an Immunization Technical Advisor for the EpiC project to be implemented in the provinces of Nampula and Zambezia, focusing on improving maternal, neonatal, and child health outcomes, immunization, and nutrition by increasing the use of and access to high-quality services. The Technical Advisor will be responsible for supervising all immunization activities in health facilities and communities, including supporting the government and other partners to implement mentorship, technical guidance, and supportive supervision, with a focus on high-impact and lifesaving practices and interventions, Reaching Every District/ Community (RED/REC) strategy; ensuring quality in training initiatives and care provision by community health workers (APS) and other providers at the community level; supporting the capacity building of local government to take on clinical supervision to ensure the quality of immunization services. The position will be based in the city of Quelimane, Zambezia, and will report to the Project Team Leader.
Accountabilities:
- Provide technical expertise and supervision in the implementation and monitoring of immunization service quality interventions at the health facility and community level.
- Works with government counterparts to develop their capacity to conduct immunization clinical supervision using approved standards and tools in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Supervise a team of technical project staff and ensure that immunization activities are appropriately delegated within the project and coordinated with provincial and district government staff.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for provincial-level immunization technical working groups. The Advisor may delegate participation to team members as appropriate.
- Lead the synthesis of immunization monitoring data for health facilities and communitiesโ indicators and develop responsive programmatic activities or course correction, for review and approval by the Team Leader and Project Director as well as provincial government leadership.
- Contribute content on immunization related activities and participate in the development of work plans, quarterly and annual reports, financial reports, and any other reports required by the U.S. Department of State's Office of Foreign Assistance.
- Collaborate with other technical advisors at HQ and country level to ensure that activities are integrated, aligned, efficient, and comprehensive.
Required Quaifications:
- Master's degree or its equivalent in a clinical field, public health, or other relevant areas
- Clinical training, preferably a pediatrician, or nurse specializing in neonatal and child health.
- At least 8 years of experience in immunization and public health programs
- Experience in supervisory positions leading junior and support staff, and provision of supportive supervision and conducting staff performance evaluations
- Proven experience working with the Ministry of Health (MISAU) and knowledge of national and provincial health systems. (Zambรฉzia and Nampula especially)
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with government staff and community stakeholders.
- Fluency in Portuguese required. Preference for strong interpersonal and oral presentation skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workflow.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility.
