- Role and responsibilities
The Project Assistant is responsible for coordination of the Information, counseling and legal assistance (ICLA) activities at Wau office.ย
Generic responsibilitiesย
The responsibilities depend to some degree on the existing organizational chart of the Country Office and the size and complexity of the operations. ย If theseย responsibilities are not reflecting the reality of the field operations, the COs can adapt the content as long as the structure and style are the same. Details shall be incorporated in theย Work- and Professional Development Plan and not be included in the JD.

Specific responsibilitiesย
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly. The project Assistant will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
provide information, counselling and legal assistance to the NRCโs beneficiaries as per the sub-component in the projectย Provide confidential counselling service to projectย beneficiariesย Assist in planning, implementation and evaluation of community sensitization campaigns on available services, legal identity/civil documentation and employment laws and procedures;ย Conduct assessments and regular monitoring in IDP and host communities where disputes exist or may arise over access to land, water and/or essential services, through key informant interviews and focus groups, ensuring that assessment and monitoring forms are accurately filled, and securely stored, paying attention to client confidentiality and do-no-harm principles; Report on progress and challenges in the implementation of activities to the ICLA Project Officer through preparation of weekly/biweekly activity reports, and preparation of monthly activity reports for the ICLA Project Coordinator; Ensure that various procurement and finance related forms are prepared accurately prior to their submission to the ICLA Project Officer, ICLA Team Leader, Project coordinator or Area Programme Manager for approval, i.e. purchase requests, cash advance requests, accountability forms, stock requests, etc.;ย Adhere to NRCโs security and client confidentiality policies, and report incidents to the ICLA Project officer or ICLA Project Coordinator immediately; Ensure good cooperation and exchange of information with other NRC colleagues in Western Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and northern Bahr el Ghazal including those in support departments, as well as staff from other organizationsย Upon direction from the ICLA Project Officer or ICLA Project Coordinator, represent NRC in a professional manner in meetings with government authorities, humanitarian partners and beneficiary communities;ย Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the ICLA Project Officer or ICLA project Coordinator for NRC Wau CompetenciesยCompetencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired results.ย Details about NRCโs competencies are to be found in the Competency Framework. Holder of bachelor degree in Law, social sciences from recognized University or equivalent with extensive experience Experience from working as a Legal aid/access to Justice in a humanitarian/recovery context Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts Documented results related to the positionโs responsibilities Knowledge about own manager skills/profileย Fluency in English, both written and verbalยContext related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):ย
