Mission and objectivesEnabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet), formerly known as Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA), is a women-centered, community-based organization operating in the Acholi sub-region of Northern Uganda. The organization focuses on empowering rural women, youth, and smallholder farmers through programs in education, livelihoods, food security, health, and disaster resilience. Through its Livelihood, Food Security, and Nutrition (LFSN) thematic area, ERONet aims to enhance food security and improve nutritional outcomes for rural households by increasing agricultural productivity, promoting dietary diversity, and strengthening community-based resilience. The organization works with local womenโs groups to promote agroforestry, permaculture, climate-smart agriculture, and small-scale agribusiness development for sustainable livelihoods.
ContextCommunities in Kitgum and Lamwo districts continue to face recurrent challenges of food insecurity, malnutrition, and poverty, worsened by climate change, prolonged dry spells, and limited access to productive assets. Women, youth, and persons with disabilities are disproportionately affected, with limited access to land, agricultural inputs, and financial services. ERONet seeks to mobilize resources to expand its community-based agricultural training, nutrition education, and women-led agribusiness programs. The organizationโs goal is to help rural women farmers transition from subsistence farming to diversified, income-generating livelihoods through sustainable production systems such as permaculture, apiculture, aquaculture, and agroforestry. The volunteer will play a critical role in developing high-quality grant proposals and concept notes, identifying donor opportunities, and strengthening ERONetโs capacity to attract long-term funding for its Livelihood, Food Security, and Nutrition initiatives.
Task DescriptionThe online volunteer will support ERONetโs Livelihood and Food Security team by providing expertise in proposal development, donor mapping, and project design. The volunteer will work closely with ERONetโs Executive Director and program staff to translate strategic priorities into well-structured funding proposals aligned with donor priorities. Key Responsibilities: Research and identify funding opportunities related to agriculture, food security, womenโs economic empowerment, and climate resilience. Develop and edit concept notes, proposals, and donor briefs for ERONetโs LFSN programs. Provide technical input on project design, including logical frameworks, results-based indicators, and sustainability strategies. Support in refining narratives on gender equality, inclusion, and climate adaptation in agriculture. Collaborate remotely with ERONetโs team to ensure alignment with community needs and the strategic plan (2026โ2031). Provide strategic guidance on building partnerships with development agencies, philanthropic organizations, and agribusiness initiatives. This assignment provides an opportunity for the volunteer to contribute to sustainable development efforts that directly benefit rural women and their communities in Northern Uganda.
