What you will do:
The purpose of the Head of Support position is to ensure that all support functions are providing high quality and efficient support programme implementation.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities:
- Lineย management for support managers such as Finance, HR & Admin and Logistics (incl. ICT)
- Member of the Country Management Group (CMG)
- Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and handbooks and donor/auditor requirements
- Facilitate the support function`s strategic input to the development of the Country Strategy and Plan of Actionย
- Provide input on operational support in proposal development, and to coordinate and align operational support with programme plans
- Responsible for ensuring quality and timely support to project implementation.
- Facilitate the Master Support Budget, country level budgets and BPO development, including assess and monitor costs and resource allocation needs
- Responsible for the strategic development of country structures, technical systems,ย humanย resource capacity and allocation
- Responsible for development of new country specific technical SOPs, guidelines and tools
- Responsible for organisational learning related to programme support
- Responsible for technical capacity building of support staffย
Specific responsibilities:
- Lead the Country Support Management Team, and the overall efforts and strategies of its constituent departments
- Oversight and quality management of full operational planning, implementation, and documentation for all projects in the country operation โ including both Securing Supporting Documentation and Reconciliation of Deliverables
- Lead on the administrative relationship with national authorities in Sudan
- Deliver the country workforce development plan and the initiatives it is comprised of
- Contribute to emergency response and rapid response efforts in Sudan, and the support systems for their safe and high-quality delivery
What you will bring:
Generic professional competencies for this position:ย
- Minimum 4 yearsโ experience from a senior management position in a humanitarian/ recovery context
- Experience of managing support functions on a large scale
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Allocation of resources and costs expertise
- Documented results related to the positionโs responsibilities
- Knowledge of market analysis and cash-based interventionsย
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profileย
- Fluency in English, both written and verbalย
Context/Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of the context in Sudan is ideal
- Knowledge of Arabic language is ideal โ if different than Englishย
- Experience working with national and local authorities
- Experience of working with national partners What we offer

- Salary/benefits: grade 11 of NRCโs either national or international pay scaleย
- Duration of Contract:ย One year โ possible extension if funding secured
- Travel:ย 75% (all of Sudan)
