The purpose of the Guard position to provide service support to the security department in South region โ Uruzgan Field Office of the NRC. The position holder will be reporting directly to Security and Humanitarian Access Officer Afghanistan Uruzgan in order to run his/her duties smoothly according to security standards of NRC.ย

Generic responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.ย
- Promote and share ideas for improvement.ย
- Perform according to the work and development plan.ย
- Looks for the security of the office and staff in the office.ย
Specific responsibilities
- Toย keepย the office responsible informed of any incident in the neighbourhood.ย
- ย Responsibleย toย not allow unauthorized people park their vehicles in front of the offices.ย
- Responsibleย not toย allowย anyย suspicious packages to the compound unless authorized by Supervisor/Security and Humanitarian Access Officer, Security Coordinator.ย
- Responsibleย for everybodyย entering to the office.ย
- To registersย all the visitors coming to the office and reports to responsible person.ย
- Toย keepย the generators maintained, (starts it on time, air filter replacement and keeps fuel balance).ย
- Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets and repair/replace defective parts.
- To checkย the heaters in the morning and continuously keeps checking it.ย
- Responsible for checkingย all security lights and reports if there is any loss during his working time.ย
- Controlย the water accessibility in the office (water pump, pipes).ย
- Switches on and off all lights of the building on time.ย
- Cleaningย theย compound, guard room regularly,ย and keep all the materials arranged.ย
- To helpย theย cleanerย in some parts of their work (Lawn maintenance, heater cleaning, washing heavy/big items.ย
- Keep all the windows and doors locked when the staff members leave the office.ย
- Irrigation of theย garden twice a week (Friday and Saturday).ย
- Obeyย and work according to the time and schedule given by your supervisor.ย
- Respectย the visitors and behavior them gently.ย
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Generic professional competencies:ย
- Secondary School Graduate, High School Graduation is preferred.ย
- 2 years ofย workingย experienceย as Security Guardย with National and International NGOsย
- Having experience in big generators maintenance and maintaining the logbook updated.
- Able to speak well on both local languages (Pashto and Dari) English isย aย plus point.ย ย
- Familiar with all security procedures and rules.
- Obtained essential security trainings.
- Knowledge of south Region Context especially Uruzgan province.ย
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contextsย
- Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market-based programs
