5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesUNDP works in more than 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. We help countries develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience to sustain development results. UNDP has been present in Malawi since 1964. Working closely with the Government of Malawi, civil society and the private sector, UNDP' s work aims to contribute to economic growth, sustainable environmental management, and democratic governance and accountability in Malawi. UNDPโ€™s Country Programme Document is closely aligned to the Malawi Agenda 2063 and supports Malawiโ€™s aim to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. UNDP โ€˜s programme is designed to address the interlinked issues of poverty, inequality and vulnerability to shocks and is managed within two portfolios: Responsive Institutions and Citizen Engagement which works towards strengthening effective, accountable and inclusive governance that promotes civic engagement, respect for human rights, rule of law, peace and democracy. It also works towards strengthening data generation and analysis. Resilience and Sustainable Growth which focusses on enhancing economic innovation, inclusive business, job creation, and renewable energy access. It also works towards helping Malawi adapt to climate change and build resilience to disasters.

ContextAccess to sustainable and inclusive energy is essential for human development, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. In Malawi, gender disparities persist in the energy sector, limiting women's participation in energy decision-making, employment, and access to clean and modern energy solutions. To address these challenges, UNDP Malawi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, is working towards mainstreaming gender and inclusive principles into the national energy policies and frameworks. To support this effort, UNDP has developed an Analytical Report and a Policy Brief that provide insights into the current gender dynamics in the energy sector, highlight key challenges, and offer policy recommendations to promote inclusivity. These documents will serve as critical tools for advocacy, policymaking, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that gender equality remains central to Malawiโ€™s energy transition. To effectively communicate the findings and recommendations, UNDP requires the expertise of a graphic designer to create visually compelling, well-structured, and professionally designed documents. High-quality design will enhance the accessibility, readability, and impact of these reports, enabling policymakers, stakeholders, and development partners to better understand and act on the recommendations. By promoting gender-responsive energy policies that enhance equal opportunities, encouraging investment in inclusive energy solutions that benefit both women and men and Strengthening advocacy efforts for gender equity in the energy sector, this assignment directly contributes to Sustainable Human Development. By ensuring a professional and engaging presentation of these key documents, the assignment will support UNDPโ€™s mission to foster inclusive, sustainable development and gender equality in Malawiโ€™s energy sector.
