Background
The Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH) is the main knowledge and advisory center for the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (ECIS) within UNDP. IRH connects the region to a global network of development experts, strengthens knowledge sharing and capacity-building, and fosters partnerships to address development challenges. It also captures and disseminates best practices and development successes while enhancing the impact of UNDPโs work through strategic communications and advocacy.
The Regional Programme for Europe and CIS provides a programmatic framework for UNDPโs support to Country Offices on regional and global public goods. It delivers capacity-building, advisory services, research and analytics, and regional cooperation initiatives. Aligned with UNDPโs regionality principles, the programme addresses cross-border challenges and issues beyond the scope of individual Country Offices.
The IRH Communications Team seeks a highly skilled Graphic Design Associate to create visually engaging content, including graphics, illustrations, animations, and short videos for presentations, print, and digital platforms. The role will support UNDPโs outreach and advocacy efforts by ensuring high-quality visual materials that effectively communicate development impact.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the IRH Communications Analyst, the Graphic Design Associate will develop and produce high-quality digital visual assets for editorial content, knowledge products, publications, social media, and thematic campaigns. Key responsibilities include:
Designing and enhancing editorial materials such as web pages, brochures, reports, toolkits, and briefs. Creating and updating social media graphics (banners, quote cards, infographics, animated visuals, and short videos) in line with UNDPโs branding guidelines. Preparing visual layouts for online and print publications, including reports, studies, and fact sheets. Managing and updating UNDP Eurasiaโs photo and video library. Collaborating with thematic teams, incorporating feedback, and ensuring error-free, high-quality content. Ensuring all visual materials comply with UNDPโs branding and accessibility standards. Supporting additional communications-related tasks as required. Graphic Design & Branding: Ability to communicate visually and create appealing UNDP graphic products. Multimedia Production: Ability to create and combine images, text and audio- visuals to produce multimedia content. Digital Content Creation: Ability to coalesce multiple skills to identify a topic to engage intended audiences, decide which form the content should take โ e.g., blog, social media, video, paid-media, etc. โ and produce material to specification and a high level of quality. Education:
Secondary Education is required, OR; A university degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, journalism or related field will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.Experience:

Experience using AI-powered tools for graphic design, such as Adobe Firefly, MidJourney, or other generative AI tools, to enhance creativity and efficiency in design projects. Demonstrated experience in using software tools (Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, Illustrator, PowerPoint, etc) in a creative and engaging way. Demonstrated experience in designing and packaging reports, brochures, flyers etc. with evidence of providing examples of publications. Experience and knowledge of UX/UI as well as production of websites, social media, and mobile design. Experience and knowledge of both typography and color theory is critical Internet research skills, ability to handle and interpret data.Desired Skills:ย
Previous experience in delivering and designing campaigns, online reports and other communication-related activities is an asset.ย Experience in designing informative and educational projects through animation and infographics is an asset.ย Previous experience working with UN agencies an asset.ย Strong experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure relevance and appropriateness of the design to project/organizational needs is an asset.ย Basic skills in video editing and production are desirable. Relevant training in the area of graphic design is an asset.ยRequired Languages:
