What we are looking for:
NRC is currently looking for a dynamic, motivated and highly experienced humanitarian leader for the position of Global Emergency Response Team Leader. The role is exciting and challenging. It requires flexibility, diplomacy and an ability to adapt to diverse contexts and situations with agility and positivity. NRC is currently present in over 40 countries, and the Global Emergency Response Team Leader role can be called upon to cover interim in any one of those country offices. The position holder will lead the NRC Emergency Response Team (ERT) during missions in the field. The core Emergency Response Team is made up of 3 roles: the Team Leader, Logistics Manager and Programme Specialist. The ERT will normally deploy together as a team; however, individual deployments may occur depending on organisational needs.
What you will do:
- Line management of two Global Emergency Response Team members, plus additional emergency staff as required.
- Provide situation analysis, identify gaps and protection needs, and make proposals/concept notes within the framework of NRCโs core activities, including cash-based interventions and market-based programming, considering the specific needs of the affected population on site and/or in host communities.
- In collaboration with other humanitarian stakeholders, develop and ensure that the relevant assistance is provided and suited to the humanitarian context.ย
- Approach in-country donors for emergency funding.
- Identify staffing needs required for the implementation of activities.ย
- Provide input to information/media work and advocacy in coordination with NRC Head Office.
- Ensure information sharing and coordination through established humanitarian coordination mechanisms and with external stakeholders.
- Ensure the inclusion of cash-based interventions and market-based programmes in country and area-based strategies and their implementation across and within NRCโs core competencies.
- Provide an enabling environment for the implementation of cash-based interventions, including multi-purpose cash assistance, emergency cash responses.
- Reference to specific responsibilities is outlined in a separate Terms of Reference (TOR) which will be developed for each assignment.
- If there is no request for a joint ERT deployment, the Team Leader may be deployed individually to a country programme on a short-term assignment in a role that matches with their profile.ย

ย What you will bring:
- Minimum 5 years of experience from working as a Senior Project Manager or similar, in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Experience leading and managing teams
- Experience in implementing and managing cash-based interventions and market-based programmes
- Strong networking and relationship building skills
- Be an active listener; open-minded; good inter-personal relations, excel in analysing information and giving feedback and have a positive attitude toward peopleย
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile with documented results related to the positionโs responsibilities
- Language: Fluency in English, both written and verbal. French and/or Spanish an asset
What we offer:
- Duty station: Global Roving. The Global ERT Leader will undertake short-term assignments, up to 6 months, to different NRC country operations. Assignments are based on requests from NRCโs Regional or Country Offices.ย
- Contract: Fixed term 2 years
- Travel: Up to 75%. The position holder will be deployed up to 75% of the year. The remaining approximately 25% will be annual leave and breaks between deployments.
- Salary/benefits: grade 11 on NRCโs salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
