5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesFounded in 1948, WHO is the United Nations agency that connects nations, partners and people to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable โ€“ so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health. WHO leads global efforts to expand universal health coverage. We direct and coordinate the worldโ€™s response to health emergencies. And we promote healthier lives โ€“ from pregnancy care through old age. Our Triple Billion targets outline an ambitious plan for the world to achieve good health for all using science-based policies and programmes. WHOโ€™s Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW 13) defines WHOโ€™s strategy for the five-year period, 2019-2023. It focuses on triple billion targets to achieve measurable impacts on peopleโ€™s health at the country level. The triple billion targets are to ensure by 2023: โ€ข One billion more people are benefiting from universal health coverage โ€ข One billion more people are better protected from health emergencies โ€ข One billion more people are enjoying better health and well-being The WHO country office in Jordan has successfully implemented the Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW 13) for 2019-2023 and is now transitioning to the Fourteenth General Programme of Work (GPW 14) for 2025-2028. These strategic frameworks guide WHOโ€™s priorities, with a strong focus on strengthening country offices to deliver impactful results. GPW 14 outlines an ambitious agenda to realign global efforts toward achieving the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing critical health challenges through six strategic objectives: Responding to climate change, an escalating health threat. Advance the PHC approach and essential health system capacities for UHC. Prevent, mitigate, and prepare for health risks from all hazards. Address determinants of health and root causes of ill health. Improve health service coverage and financial protection. Rapidly detect and sustain response to health emergencies In Jordan, the WHO Country Office aligns its efforts with national priorities, as reflected in Jordanโ€™s Economic Modernization Vision and the Ministry of Health Strategic Plan 2023-2025, through the COUNTRY COOPERATION STRATEGY (CCS) 2021-2025. Key CCS priorities include: Strengthening the health system to advance UHC. Building health system resilience and emergency preparedness. Promoting health and well-being. Enhancing data and innovation capacity.

ContextWHO Jordan Country Office is engaged in implementation of its operational work plan to achieve national priorities and contribute to overall health status of all population in Jordan. To progress monitor and measure the impact, a robust data analysis is required to assess impact and guide future planning, and a technical report that documents the performance of work plan implementation. The data to be analyzed includes the qualitative and quantitative updates provided by staff through a reporting tool. The insights gained from this analysis will enhance our programming strategies, optimize resource allocation, and improve overall project outcomes, while the report generated will be a progress documentation which is disseminated to end users at WHO and partners.

Task DescriptionWe are seeking two Online Volunteers to assist the reporting mandate of WHO country office, by developing an AI assisted reporting tool and report generation with data analysis and visualization for our operational plan implementation. Under the supervision of our M&E Officer, volunteers will be responsible for the following tasks: Develop an AI assisted reporting tool: Using the available reporting matrix, develop a user-friendly AI integrated interactive reporting tool using Power BI or any other similar Programme that allows attachment of photos and links, facilitating the automation of technical report generation. Final deliverable: AI integrated reporting tool Support in developing a narrative technical report: Support M&E officer in creating a narrative technical report, interpreting the data extracted from AI generated reporting tool. Final deliverable: A narrative report with data visualization on the outcome of the implementation of workplan activities.
