Job Description

Weโ€™re affecting real climate-change impact for children in the Solomon Islands

The Solomon Islands Knowledge-Action-Sustainability for Resilient Villages (SOLKAS) Project is one of the largest locally led adaptation projects globally, and one of the first with a strong focus on the education sector. Largely funded under the Green Climate Fund (GCF) with co-finance from the governments of Australia and New Zealand, it has been designed to reduce children, youth and communitiesโ€™ exposure to climate hazards and build sustainable, resilient communities and livelihoods in the context of climate change.

Working with communities across six provinces, the project will strengthen resilience to climate change impacts by strengthening the capacities of national, subnational, and local governments, communities, and schools to understand, plan for and implement responses to the climate crisis.

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

Weโ€™re ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for childrenโ€™s rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. Save the Children has been working in the Solomon Islands since 1986, focusing on education, health, child protection and disaster preparedness. We work at community, provincial and national levels to strive for the attainment of the rights of children and young people.
