Background
The United Nations Organizations in Myanmar seek to recruit a Field Security Assistant (FSA) for ย ย ย ย Security Area Shan state of Myanmar.
This position is temporarily based in Taunggyi. The selected staff member will be required to work in Taunggyi upon initial appointment and is expected to relocate to Lashio once the official announcement is made.
Under the supervision of the UN Chief Security Adviser forย Myanmar, Deputy Security Adviser, the FSA advises the Area Security Coordinator (ASC) and supports the implementation of all measure for safetyย andย securityย ofย personnel, assetsย areย implemented as recommended and approved in the SRM.ย Thisย includesย preparing security risk management documents, advising on compliance, updatingย securityย plans,ย and sharingย security-informationย with UNDSS and withย personnelย inย aย timelyย manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.)ย ย ย ย Security Information Management and Liaison:ย
Assists the CSA in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the country and in updating the Security Risk Management documents for the area; Liaises and coordinates, as appropriate, with host government security organizations and/or personnel, including national and local provincial authorities, military, and police officers, as well as non-governmental organizations and other non-State actors in the area of operation; Liaises with other humanitarian stakeholders such as NGOs and UN-implementing partners on relevant security and safety information, within the โSaving lives Togetherโ-framework. Helps to assess the security situation at the duty station and ensures adequate gathering and verification of security information that may be required for a proper analysis of the situation by the CSA/DSA; Briefs and informs the ASC and the ASMT on Security and safety in the respective area and forwards Host Country Security and safety information to the CSA/ASC. Provides technical assistance at SMT meetings;2.)ย ย ย ย Security Planning:
Assists the Area Security Coordinator and Area Security Management Team in maintaining the Security Plan, including updating lists of personnelย Helps in the preparation and review of the UN Area Security Plan Supports the implementation of the Security Plan, as required.3.)ย ย ย ย Compliance:
Assists ASC, DSA and CSA in monitoring compliance with the approved Security Risk Management measures and recommendations approved for the duty station.4.) Reporting:
Assists in reporting security incidents affecting UN personnel, ย assets and programmes and assists in the preparation of security reports, such as, but not limited to, the Security Incident Report and the Quarterly Incident Report.5.) Briefings and training:
Provides support in organizing and conducting security training courses , and conducts security orientation briefings to newly assigned members of personnel, including their dependents. Conducts ย security briefings, as required.6.) Other assistance to the Chief Security Advisor:
Maintains routine and confidential correspondence files/documents; Maintains a database on contact details in relation to host country security authorities; Arranges appointments, receives visitors, places and screens telephone calls and answers queries with discretion, and takes minutes and/or notes at meetings. Maintains liaison with guard force companies and other UN-security contractors and reports on shortfallsย Conducts security surveys and provides advice on Residential Security Measures - RSM of UN international personnel, as well as on latest safety and security trends and threats to members of personnelCompetencies

Education:
Secondary School certificate with 5 years of experience in safety or security, law enforcement, or related area such as security information acquisition, emergency services or similar or a bachelorโs degree with 2 years od experience in the field indicated aboveExperience, Knowledge, and Skills:
Prior experience working with the UN system, international NGO,ย or within an international humanitarian or development setting isย an asset. Experience in diplomatic security, protection of assets andย security-relatedย informationย acquisitionย isย anย asset. Goodย knowledge ofย computerย applicationsย (MSย Office,ย Excel,ย andย powerย point, messaging servicesย andย internet); Knowledgeย of hostย country security- and safetyย laws isย an ย asset. Possessesย aย valid driversโย license for cars (<3.5t) and able to drive manual UN vehicles Physicallyย fit,able and willingย toย travel within the country. International travel may be required occasionally. SSAFE training is desirable.Required Languages:
