ย Context Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Project Manager for Peacebuilding/Head of Sub-Office, the Senior Project Associate (Peacebuilding) will support the implementation of peacebuilding projects in Katsina and Zamfara states and other states in Northwest Nigeria. This position will assist in coordinating with local communities, government authorities, and other stakeholders to advance peace initiatives, facilitate community engagement, and contribute to reconciliation efforts. The Senior Project Associate will also support the monitoring of project activities and assist in the preparation of reports on peacebuilding outcomes. The incumbent will contribute to the organisation of a quarter meeting with the State Steering Committee in Katsina and Zamfara in support of the implementation of the EU-funded Project โConflict Prevention, Crisis Response and Resilience (CPCRR)โ Program in Nigeria.ย ย
1.ย ย ย ย Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring peacebuilding and community reconciliation activities as outlined in project proposals.ย
2.ย ย ย ย Under the guidance of the supervisor, support conflict assessments by collecting relevant data and contributing to the identification of conflict triggers, dynamics, and potential solutions.
3.ย ย ย ย Assist in identifying and liaising with key community stakeholders, including community leaders, volunteers, relevant community-based organizations, and faith-based organizations, religious leaders, representatives of herders and farmers, and other influential groups to support dialogue and peacebuilding efforts.ย
4.ย ย ย ย Support the organization and facilitation of regular CRN meetings and training sessions to strengthen capacity on conflict resolution and peacebuilding among community members and local organizations, promoting active participation and collaboration among members. This includes one monthly meeting with the technical steering committee at the LGAs level and one with the state steering committee at Katsina.
5.ย ย ย ย Assist in the preparation and delivering of training programmes on conflict resolution, reconciliation, and peacebuilding for community members, including CRNs and steering committee members at LGA level, state government authorities, and local authorities in Katsina and Zamfara States.
6.ย ย ย ย Assist in providing guidance and support to community members in drafting conflict mitigation and reconciliation action plans.
7.ย ย ย ย Support the establishment and maintenance of effective communication channels within the community, such as community meetings, workshops, and information-sharing platforms.ย
8.ย ย ย ย Assist in the development of training materials, communication tools, and project documentation to support the dissemination of information. Contribute to the timely sharing of critical information related to conflict mitigation and reconciliation efforts.
9.ย ย ย ย Prepare and submit regular inputs and updates on conflict analysis findings, community-led initiatives, and CRN activities.
10.ย ย ย ย Assist in liaising with local authorities, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations and other stakeholders involved in conflict mitigation and reconciliation, and support capacity-building activities related to conflict resolution and prevention.
11.ย ย ย ย Support the coordination of meetings and information-sharing among relevant parties and assist in organizing town hall meetings with government and community representatives, as outlined in the project plans.
12.ย ย ย ย Perform any other task as required.

Education
- High School Diploma in the above field with six years of relevant working experience; or
- Bachelorโs degree in Development, Social or Political Sciences, Conflict Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience. - Experience in coordinating with other stakeholders.ย
- Experience supporting the implementation of projects related to conflict mitigation, peacebuilding, or community reconciliation in the Local Government Areas.ย
- Experience in conflict management and reconciliation is an asset.ย
- Experience in reporting, with strong skills in drafting clear and concise reports.ย
- Experience working in a complex crisis or post-conflict environments. ย
- Experience with participatory approaches and do-no harm principles in project implementation.
ย Skills- Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team to coordinate and/ or lead the efforts to effectively meet M&E needs.ย
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Good knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint. ย
- Previous work experience in international organizations and companies would be an advantage. ย
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver results under pressure.ย
- Knowledge of peacebuilding concepts will be an advantage.ย
- Knowledge of the UN system and, ideally, IOM rules and regulations is an advantage.ย
