ย Context
Working under the overall supervision of Chief of mission and under the direct supervision of the Head of office in Katsina,ย with ย technical guidance of the Program Manager Livelihood as an additional supervisor,ย the Livelihood Project Associate will be responsibleย for implementing and managing livelihood and climate mitigation projects aimed at improving the economic resilience and self-sufficiency of vulnerable communities. The role involves working closely with local partners, government agencies, and community members to ensure the successful delivery of livelihood interventions.

1.ย ย ย ย Project Implementation and Resource Management: implement livelihood projects in line with organizational goals and community needs. Monitor and evaluate project progress, ensuring timely and effective delivery of activities. Prepare regular reports on project status, challenges, and achievements. Manage project resources, including budget, materials, and personnel. Monitor efficient and transparent use of resources in accordance with organizational policies.
2.ย ย ย ย Community Engagement and Capacity Building: conduct community assessments to identify livelihood needs and opportunities. Facilitate training sessions and workshops for beneficiaries on various livelihood skills. Collaborate with local partners and government agencies to enhance community participation and ownership.
3.ย ย ย ย Coordination and Collaboration: coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to integrate livelihood activities into broader development initiatives.
4.ย ย ย ย Participate in meetings and forums related to livelihood, economic development, climate change and environmental management.
5.ย ย ย ย Perform any other general administrative duties assigned by the managers.
Education
ย- High School diploma with five years of related experience or,
- Bachelorโs degree in Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, Environmental Science, Climate Studies, Natural Resource Management, or a related field with three years of related experienceย
ย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience- Minimum of 3 years of experience in livelihood programming or community development.
- Strong understanding of livelihood strategies and economic development principles Skills
- Good, communication, reporting and negotiation skills;
- Excellent monitoring skill; Managerial Skill; Organizational Skill; Accuracy.ย
- Ability to work with limited supervision.ย
- Ability to multi-task and delivers on set objectives and timelines in hardship situations;
- Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis. Languages
- Fluency in Englishย is required (oral and written) and Hausa and Fulfulde language is an advantage. IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
