Support the ERT / RRM Team to monitor humanitarian crises and gather information Support the implementation of humanitarian RRM and Emergency Response projects Contribute to revision of humanitarian and emergencyproposals, concept notes,and public relations materials Contribute to the revision and translation of ERT activityplans, budgets and donor reports In line with ER Ways of Working, supportthe development and maintenance of guidance, policiesand procedures, to ensure preparedness and proper response Play a lead role on drafting and translation of communications [e.g. request letter sand mission reports]with internal and external bodies and local partners; Support ER field missions (e.g., flight booking, accommodation, and other travel arrangements) Conduct field missions for needs assessment and distributions and other activities as Emergency Response Technical Assistant as requested by ERC Lead events planning for the Emergency Unit e.g. workshops, trainings and donor visits Support the administrative arrangement of training to local partners and NRC pool staff as requested by ERT Provide ‘surge capacity’ to NRC team through remoter field level operational support, and other support as neededThese are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance:
Minimum bachelor degree in any relevant field Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a humanitarian/recovery contexts Program Assistant Excellent written and oral communication skills in Portuguese English is desired Proven skills in report writing Strong coordination and organizational skills Knowledge of local language such as : Macua, Kimwani and Makonde Fluency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, word, PowerPoint, outlook etc.) Previous experience in emergency response context is helpful Ability to multitask and function independently The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation helping people forced to flee. The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) is the world’s authoritative source of data and analysis on internal displacement. Since our establishment in 1998 as part of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), we offer a rigorous, transparent and independent service to the international community, and inform policy and operational decisions to improve the lives of people living in, or at risk of, internal displacement.
With a team of more than 30 people in Geneva and an annual budget of over 5 million USD, we monitor more than 130 countries in the world for which we provide verified, consolidated and multi-sourced estimates of the number of people internally displaced or at risk of becoming displaced by conflict, violence, disasters and development projects. We complement this global data with interdisciplinary research into the drivers, patterns and impacts of internal displacement. Using this evidence, we provide tailor-made advice and support to inform global, regional and national policy-making. Our data and evidence are published on our website and via our Global Internal Displacement Database (http://www.internal-displacement.org/database/displacement-data). Our flagship report, the Global Report on Internal Displacement (https://www.internal-displacement.org/global-report/grid2020/), published every year in May, is the world reference on IDP statistics, featuring trends and thematic analyses, country and regional spotlights.
