NRC is implementing projects in the North West and South West Regions since 2018. All NRC Core Competencies: Education, WASH, Shelter, ICLA, and Livelihood and Food Security, are now fully operational in the NW, SW, and extending to the West, and Littoral regions. In order to effectively implement all of its programs, there is a great need for Education Support. With the resignation of the Education Assistant and the huge gaps already existing within the team, an Education Assistant is needed to ensure the strict respect of BLP procedures and provide the necessary support needed by the teams in the execution of the ongoing projects.ย 

A. Generic responsibilitiesย 

Works in accordance with NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines;Assists in the implementation of the project in accordance with the education and psycho social support action plan (BLP);Writes reports on the progress of support activities at the request of the supervisor or management;Ensures that documents are properly archived;Makes proposals to help improve the project;Assists in the integration of the Education program with the other NRC competencies;Actively participate in the capacity building of teachers, facilitators and beneficiaries;ย Actively participate in the data collection of the education program and BLP program and the various feasibility studies.

B. Specific responsibilitiesย 

Assists the Education Officer in the preparation and organization of various training, workshops and sensitization on education with a particular focus on the NRC's psycho social support program, the BLP (Better Learning Program) ;Assists the Education Officer in the activities of coaching and mentoring of teachers during the implementation of the BLP program, organizing the follow-up of meetings, assisting teachers in developing the work plan including BLP activities, psycho social support activities and recreational activities;Supporting the Education Officer during the presentation, engagement and parentโ€™s follow-up in the BLP program;Support and be responsible for the proper collection of BLP program data (BLP teacher training, student evaluation, group discussion, etc.)Work in coordination with community leaders and relevant educational authorities;Organize close monitoring (coaching) of the beneficiaries in their activities;Requisition the necessary materials for training and surveys;Work in close collaboration with the staffs of NRC partners and treat them with respect;ย Ensures the integration of gender, HIV/AIDS and protection in education activities;Have a good knowledge of the barrier measures against COVID 19 and the means of mitigation of this pandemic in the school environment;Support the development of BLP activities to be implemented by distanceย All other activities required by the supervisor and compatible with the NRC educational program.

C. General professional skills:ย 

Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Project Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context.At least a Bachelors degree in Education, Social and Management Science and/or other related field.ย Previous professional experience of at least 2 years in supporting communities in the field of education.Proven track record on the responsibilities of the position.Fluency in speaking and writing EnglishFrench an asset.

Computer skills: MS Office required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);Perfect knowledge of the local languages spoken in the South West RegionExperience in working with rural communities;Direct experience working with children or adolescents is strongly recommended, and experience as an educator/trainer is preferred;Background in psycho social support and/or child protection;Training of communities and production of leaflets in local languages spoken in the South West Region.Ability to work with local and government partners, particularly the Ministry of Education;Ability to understand the issues related to cross-cutting themes such as gender, protection, HIV/AIDS, the environment.
